We've had a slow morning, because Richard felt and sounded last night like he was coming down with a cold.  We decided not to get up for church this morning and he seems to feel a bit better.  The pecan waffle breakfast must have helped...

I was just thinking yesterday that I haven't had a waffle or a pancake or a french toast or any other such breakfast in some weeks now.

Well, we made more waffles than we could eat, DR ChasSmth.  Shall I pop one into the toaster for you?

I'm going to sign off for the afternoon.  My friend Katie is picking me up a little after 2 for the Middletown Symphony's 2:30 concert.  She and her husband have season tickets, but he's out of town.  This is the last season for the symphony and I'm glad to have the opportunity to hear them one last time...

ChasSmith, Angel did release some Melodyia recordings, as I recall.  I used to buy the actual Melodyia import LPs back in the day, but only for Russian music.

Randy just emailed me.  He's meeting with the realtor tomorrow about listing the property.  we are in agreement about holding out until the price moves back up, and I think talking to the realtor can only be helpful.

I just watched the final episode of the MTM Show on Me Tv.  It really is a good episode that seems a bit less so since it has been copied and imitated so much in the years since it first aired.....but it still touched me to see all of these characters walk away from each other after all those years together.....

I remember seeing THE MAD MAGICIAN back when it first came out.  It's sort of a poor man's HOUSE OF WAX.

Larry, I share many of your worries and concerns. Since the election I've been more mindful of stress management. I feel I must brace myself before turning to the NYT. I don't feel I'm doing enough to counter the barrage of negativity that hits us all.

On that note, and since it's free-for-all day, I suggest this topic: which movies, TV shows, or music do you find relaxing, calming, or restorative when you're feeling stressed?

I'll start.

Movies:
THE BEST OF MEN

TV:
CALL THE MIDWIFE
MIRANDA

Music:
JS Bach (any of his works)

I'm sure there are others; these were just off the top of my head.

Back from dim sum in Austin. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told there was an 80-minute wait. So, we went shopping at the Asian supermarket in the same plaza where we spent about an hour. When we got back to the restaurant, we were told they had called our number 30 minutes ago. My friend, Ping, told them what they had originally said and so they seated us next.

The carts were laden with wonderful treats, including shrimp dumplings, curried squid, steamed meatballs, duck sandwiches, turnip cake (my favorite, with plenty of chile oil on top) and shrimp wrapped in tofu sheets.
