Got word that an important Kritzerland CD project has finally been approved, so we'll now get that into production.

Words of Advice:

Never, ever insert a Q-tip into your ear.   Practical experience and clogged eardrum trauma has led me to this conviction.

And, also:  If you ever swim in a heated pool, use ear plugs or don't submerge your head.  Heated water can heat up normal earwax and cause blockage.

I'm talkin' to myself!

That's it.  Only myself is listening to me right now.  Or reading me right now.

Oh, well...

Back from the ENT.  Thankfully, nothing serious.  A ball of wax that I could not apparently get to with my usual every two days Q-tip things, had lodged itself on my left eardrum.  So, first he vacuumed both ears, then he had to use another instrument to actually get this glob of wax.  All should be fine now - he said it may take a few hours to be back to completely normal, but it already feels so much better.

Whew!  Glad it was a simple solution.

Unpleasant surprise this morning:

I went to dry my hair after my shower; plugged the dryer in and the little doo-hickey plastic box on the cord exploded into flame.  Luckily I was able to pull it out before there was too much damage, but there is now a burn mark under the wall plug in my bathroom.

We took the dryer back to Wal-Mart and they gave us a new one of a different brand.  No charge.

The dryer that "exploded" was a ConAir, so be warned.

:o Yikes!!

First time for ear vacuuming.  A weird sensation and not that pleasant.  In fact, this problem is the first problem I've EVER had with my ears, and hopefully it will be the last.

ASK BK

I have seen a lot of independant artists have forsaken the traditional plastic jewel cases for their CD releases and gone with the slim cardboard casing.

Have you ever considered going this route? Is it any cheaper?

It's not really cheaper, and our audience likes the booklets.

I'd been wondering if you'd tried that, too, BK.  I remember we were talking for a few weeks about going that kind of route for the LAST STARFIGHTER CD packaging in 2005, but then you decided against it.  (I'd even bought a few CD's that were in that packaging style to show Skip and some other folks what it was like.)

This is different from what Shayne was talking about - this was to do a mini-LP style cover, which I'd still like to do.

Well, while we're on this tangent, has anyone here ever had his or her nasal passages vacuumed?

My college roommate had this done frequently circa 1967-70.

That said, I wish a vacuum had been available when my ears were clogged.  The ENT used a special hooked tool to remove the wax clog.  I had been using, prior to this incident, one of those products to squirt a liquid into your ears with a blue rubber bulb thingy....but the ENT told me I should never do that.  The ears, he said, naturally clean themselves.  Truth is, after the heated pool event, the ears have changed "natural" functions, although I'm still able to clean them.

Weird dat here, but my taxes are almost finished.  I have three envelopes off receipts left to be tallied.  I could not find my 1099 from the Musicians Pension Fund.  I spent too much time today trying to reach them.  Ater I finally got through and requested a new 1099, I found it.

Then I had to deal with an appointment to see a new doctor in Union Square, which will be a schlep to get to, but that's next Tuesday's fresh hell.

I spoke to Frazier producer Joe Keenan, whose song "Watching the Show" is one of my favorite things I orchestrated for BK.  I will meet him on Friday at noon.  So much for a quiet day at home.

Good news about the ear, BK!  It turned out to be what I expected it to be.  I was pretty sure it was no infection or you would have been feverish and in awful pain.

I still don't know what a gig line is.....

Gig line is a military term that refers to the alignment of the seam of the uniform shirt, belt buckle, and uniform trouser fly-seam. In order to be properly dressed, these three should align to form a straight line down the front of a person's body.  (see photo in reply #65)
