Julia Louis-Dreyfus and her husband, Brad Hall, were at the Gonzaga vs Northwestern basketball game today.  There son plays for Northwestern.

I had mentioned to him yesterday that the movie had gotten some mixed reviews.

So, I guess he needed to call me back and give me his seal of approval.

I told him that I didn't write the mixed reviews, I just saw them.

Of course, I like the stage musical.

Back from a mediocre Mexican dinner and perhaps the worst production of Company in history - and I've seen some doozies.  I won't be mean in the notes - I'll let Rob do the review.  Horrid, misguided direction, stupid set, terrible actors and canned Casio-style tracks.

I love a good brutal review, unless I am in the production.

I don't know if it will be brutal or not - if it was me it would absolutely be brutal.

Joshie and I got a beautiful email from Jack Viertel, thanking us for the orchestrations, and calling us "Irv and Sid,"  It was really kind. He wrote:
You sent me straight to heaven today, where I expect to stay for the next ten days or so, breaking in to choruses of The Heaven Hop from time to time as the mood strikes.

Your devotion to the cause is admirable enough, but your inspiration and skill go way beyond that. The work is thrilling and I’m very humbled and happy to be the recipient of the thrill.

That's wonderful, Larry!  Congrats to you and Josh!

The Harmony Sweepstakes was almost entirely filled!  All of the groups were really good.  One group (a women's trio) was definitely the weakest, but they didn't embarrass themselves.  My friend Margo had heard that they just got a new member, so they still have some work to do...but they weren't bad, by any means.

There was one women's barbershop quartet that inly sang two songs in their 10 minute time slot!  They got up there and started talking, and each group only has 10 minutes exactly, but their talking counts, so they only got two songs in...but they won! :o

You can be knocked down a place if you go over, so we think that's how they won.  Another group that was the audience favorite went over he allotted, so the women's quartet won by default. :-\

Don't get me wrong, they were very good, but it was a surprise that they won with only two songs.
