I hope that none of you who are flying home soon are booked on United Airlines. Today they actually forbid a 10-year-old girl from boarding because she was wearing leggings and also two teenage girls, for the same reason. The little girl's mom had a dress of hers in her bag and she was able to put that on and board, but the two teenagers presumably had nothing handy and couldn't board. The family was using employee passes, the use of which carries dress codes. But leggings? Like 'em or not, they are fairly standard attire. And she's a kid! The dad was wearing shorts, but that was considered acceptable. Thankfully, I no longer fly much, but I'd be really skeptical of flying with an airline whose rules are so arbitrary. I fully concur that people should dress appropriately in public and that pass passengers are representing the airline. But this is crazy. United has just created a PR nightmare for itself. Maybe some of their executives should run for Congress.
And the show is over. It closed beautifully, and Joshie and I went to the party. We got nice compliments from Sheldon Harnick and others. I met spouses. girlfriends and boyfriends of the cast and crew. chatted with a lot of people, and I am home. I must get to bed since I need to be up by seven.I hope the recording week goes as smoothly and wonderful as the show.
