DR Ginny and Richard stopped by for a visit on their way up Tenth Avenue to the NYPL at Lincoln Center. It was nice to spend a little bit of time with them.

What a treat that was!  We enjoyed our visit with you during the break and the 2 numbers they recorded while we were there.  Glad to hear today was so productive and that tomorrow will be easier.

I'm in San Antonio. Even though the flight was 30 minutes late in taking off, we got here before we were originally supposed to. Go figure.

Good tail winds.

We ended up walking all the way to the library at Lincoln Center, looking for someplace to eat along the way.  Nothing appealed to us and we were delighted to find an Amy's Bread kiosk right in the library.  We had sandwiches and hot beverages and split a cookie.  Then we picked up our free tickets to the "Broadway's Future" program and had just enough time to take a quick look at the "Curtain Up" exhibit before showtime.  Tonight's showcase featured a composer/lyricist named Alan Schmuckler and several excellent singers.  And the price was right - $0.00!

Library cafes are not uncommon, DR Jane, and this one has plenty of tables were you can eat.  And there are NO FOOD & DRINK signs throughout the rest of the building.

I do not recall why I felt I needed to read a Georges Simenon novel.  I began with Pietr the Latvian (Maigret, #1).  Not only did I find the book boring & slightly ridiculous I was shocked by Simenon's antisemitism. I consider myself tolerant when it comes to reading the classics, however, not so with this novel.  I did a bit of research and am not surprised to read Simenon collaborated with the Nazis during the war.

Some of the garden is doing good, according to my friend, but the fig tree seems to have taken a beating during the three days of winter we had this year. So, I don't know if there will be figs this year -- or jam.

I know you know that Richard Sherman hurt his back a month ago and has been in rehab since doing it - he called me today and it was so great hearing his voice and he's in fine spirits and healing and hopes to be home in about a week-and-a-half. I cannot tell you how I love and adore this force of nature. He told me he's rereading all my books and that they're making the days go by faster and making him laugh and feel good. I can't even. The sweetest man who ever lived.

Watching a Woody Allen movie that everyone hated called You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Very ugly. Not liking it.

Dear Jane, why are you reading Simenon when you could read Kimmelnon?

Because, unfortunately, it came in from the library.  I had a long list of books that took a long time to become available.  They are all doing so at once.

I love peach jam, but the peach tree doesn't produce fruit. It's just a nice tree when it's covered in leaves.

Amy - Does it have to be from entirely from a musical, or just musical-related?  Because the references to "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" that surrounded Madonna's "Material Girl" might make that an interesting medley.
Thank you, FJL! Yes, I'm looking for pop songs too, but I felt like I could come up with those myself. I was particularly stymied on songs from musicals. All suggestions are appreciated.

:-\ I've never read any of his novels...no specific reason, just never read any.

And on that note (D#), I'm leaving work.  I need to do a little shopping at Fred Meyer, then I'll go home and do some laundry while I balance my checkbook.  It's been a while (again). ::)
