Whatever DD Rachel had to drink at the table looks very yummy...

Plain old iced tea. But it does look good.

I REEK of garlic, I tell you.

IMHO (internet lingo!), there are far worse things to reek of.

Eating seafood with chopsticks - YUM!

I had a kitchen boo-boo tonight.  The stuffed bell peppers came out faboo, with a paprika-tomato sauce.  The boo-boo came when I went to ladle some of the sauce onto der B's plate.  I'd used a saucepan with an ovenproof metal handle for baking the peppers, and had made sure to use a potholder when taking the saucepan out of the oven.  Unfortunately, I forgot to continue with the potholder when I grabbed the handle to tilt the pan to reach the sauce.

OUCHERS!

My fingers are still smarting from that mistake.  Kids, do NOT try this at home!

(The stuffing was magnificent, by the by.  A mix of sausage, ground beef, onion, mushers, some tomato, some hot peppers, some oregano, pre-cooked rice and parsley.)

TOD:

This Christmas I asked for peace on Earth, goodwill towards all men, and a Tivo.  I know I'm getting peace on Earth--I saw it in a Target bag in my mom's closet.

Garlic is a highly regarded anti-oxidant, so you shouldn't have a problem with oxidizing.

My evening was graced by the presence of Dear Readers Laura and Sandra, in town for their annual attendance at Plaid Tidings at the historic Pasadena Playhouse.

They stopped by my house first, where they made the mutually  friendly acquaintances of Dear Dogs Roller and Blackjack.  We had drinks (Dear Reader Sandra imbibed a regular Coke with some syrup from a jar of marraschino cherries stirred in while Dear Reader Laura and I had more traditionally served concoctions) and nosh and chatted and laughed and chatted some more and then left for dinner.

We went to the Pasadena branch of Cafe Bizou, where Dear Reader Sandra was thrilled to find gazpacho on the menu.  Dear Reader Laura had crabcakes and salad and I had sweetbreads, seldom found on menus these days and nicely done at this restaurant.  We laughed and chatted and laughed some more before embarking upon the next module in our evening.

After dinner, we headed over to Griffith Park and, after a fairly long wait in a line of automobiles, viewed the holiday light displays they have there at this time each year.  The lights were very festive and the three of us laughed and chatted yet some more and generally enjoyed each other's company and holiday cheer.

It was a swell evening!
