My car is in the shop today. And tomorrow. It turns out it did have a leak and needs a new fuel pump. I'd taken it yesterday to the independent mechanic I've been going to for several years now and we were planning for them to do the work. I then thought I'd better check the warranty. I doubted it'd still be covered, but I checked anyway. The warranty expired last March, but Audi has some sort of voluntary "recall" on the water pump and are taking care of it. I'd rather have the independent do the work, but it's an $800-900 job, so I'm letting Audi do it. I haven't had a lot of experience with Audi service, but I've come to loathe dealerships based on past experiences on other cars.

Of course, this has screwed up my plans for the rest of the week. I had to reschedule with Erik. He had some openings on Saturday, thanks to the holiday weekend, so I'll see him then.

Car repair is never convenient, so I'll just be glad to have it over with.

Larry, given that the elevator isn't working, is someone collecting trash or would that be too much to ask for?

Can the elevator be repaired?

Bruce, Boiron's Chestal cough syrup with HONEY is highly recommended by me. There are many products with similar names, as DR Jane found out. Be sure to buy the adult one and the one with HONEY.

Can the elevator be repaired?

The building management is accepting bids for a new elevator system, although I have no idea when the installation will begin.

My super is helping me get things to the basement.

My mother has reminded that when I was 3 or 4 or 5 years old, she and my Dad told me they were going to watch "Dial M for Murder," I asked "Who's Dolly Emphamurder?"

Back from a cup of chicken soup and a bagel - thankfully it wasn't too cold in there as it's not quite as hot today outside.  I'm obviously in the phlegm breakup phase - huge amounts of guck coming out of my nose and throat - so I suppose that's a good thing.

A very good thing.  It can be pretty gross...but good. :D

The dealership should have had plenty of experience doing the recall work.  I hope it is done to your satisfaction and there aren't any hidden costs.

Bruce, Boiron's Chestal cough syrup with HONEY is highly recommended by me. There are many products with similar names, as DR Jane found out. Be sure to buy the adult one and the one with HONEY.

Even if I had purchased the correct one it is still an expectorant:
"Temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold.
Helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to make coughs more productive."

When it didn't work I knew, from years of experience, only codeine was going to stop my serious cough. Bryan, the ER doctor said he never prescribes codeine.  I can understand that, not knowing the patients or if they are just trying to get their fix.  When he mentioned this I did laugh at the large bottle my prescription was for.  I also found taking half the dose, and only at night, was the best way to use it.  I used the Boiron's during the day.
