Had my retirement counseling session this morning.

The future is much brighter than I thought it might be!!

Congrats, Ron!

My friend who had to evacuate yesterday still has her house and business.  She is not out of danger.  This photo is 100 yards from her.

TOD:  The most awkward, funny thing I ever experienced on stage happened to me in college.  I was the "Wayne of Morse' in a production of "MacBird."

Part of my costume was a ginormous spear I carried with me on all entrances.

The opening strains of the "William Tell Overture" were supposed to be the sound cue for my first entrance.   Night after night, cues were assembled and used but never mine, and I had to do them myself.

One night near the end of rehearsals I waited for my cue.  It did not come.  The director yelled out to tell me I missed my entrance.  I yelled back that I didn't miss my entrance because MY DAMNED CUE NEVER PLAYED.

I was told to go on as usual...and, yet again, I did the "William Tell"....

...and as I proceeded to march onto the stage, I tripped just at the edge of the scrim...and all the rehearsal audience saw was my spear hit the stage floor...and bend.

I was humiliated and the entire cast and crew erupted into hysterical laughter.

Yes DR JANE that photo is scary!

Good news from DR RLP - this time next year you will wonder how you were able to work THAT LONG!  You will have more to do than ever!

You can practice that entrance.......

There is a bee in my room......I can't see it when I get up from watching television, but if I sit down, it lands on my leg.....

Had my cup of chicken soup and bagel, picked up a package and have been relaxing.  Am definitely feeling a bit better.  Voice is still pretty trashed but not quite as bad as the past two days.  I probably won't do the pre-curtain "preview" speech tonight just because I don't see the point since we have no intention of stopping and we open tomorrow night.

Listening to the symphonies of Ralph Vaughan Williams in completely interesting and different performances.  I've heard most of the Brit conductors and, of course, have one of the Boult complete sets.  I had no idea this set even existed until three days ago and it just looked so weird I had to have it - on Melodiya conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky - yep, a Russian band and conductor doing Vaughan Williams.  It shouldn't work at all and yet it does, at least so far.  After I heard the first of them I looked up some reviews of this box set, and they're all pretty stellar and say this was an unexpected delight.  These recordings are all live from the late 1980s and early 1990s and sound pretty damn good so far.

Wae-Ling and I caught 878 crawdads yesterday. This morning they were delivered to a wildlife conservation sanctuary. The bears, bobcats, and raccoons will be very happy.

TOD:  In Moon Over Buffalo, Carol Burnett's costar, Philip  Bosco, cut his hand on a glass, I think.  If I recall correctly, the scene was near the end of Act 1 so he was able to get a bandage fairly quickly.

Here goes again--- this is the third time I'm writing this. I lost the first one and my internet went off after the second time.   Okay---in last year's La Cage aux Folles at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, there was  mishap like the one mentioned by DR Amy.

The actor who played Jacob missed the first few performances because of a death in his family.  The understudy, who normally played one of the Cagelles, was very good.  Only problem---he' s supposed to help Albin change his clothes to become Zaza.  Yep, he forgot to zip the dress, so the actor, Bobby Smith, did his best to ignore the unzipped dress while he sang.

Another night in LaCage, Georges (Mr. Barrett) was behind the wardrobe getting a piece of clothing for Albin ( a sweater, I think).  Well, I knew something was wrong when he didn't come out as soon as he was supposed to.  He had gotten something caught and had to ask Albin to help him get the clothing free.  They both pulled it off very well.

What a coinkydink!  I am off to the theater, also!  Hope it's a good night for both of us!

We did, however, just have a three-minute power outage -- which is really weird.

Whereupon the generator dutifully came on, then dutifully went off when power was restored.

That part was nice.  :)

Vibes needed for my cowriter, Bonnie, who is having a sky full of crap landing in her lap lately. And she's not feeling that much of anything is worthwhile these days.
