I like pesto. I make it on the rare occasion that I have lots of basil growing.

I don't quite know what is being considered a good fad these days. I've been eating kale, raw and cooked, since I was a kid because we grew it. And I've made pesto since I started growing basil. My freezer is full of it right now.

But these traditional Filipino birthday hot dogs on skewers with heart-shaped marshmallows is something I can pass on.

TOD:
I love pesto! And it's not like it's new - I've been eating pesto for about 20 years.
I found like raw kale in salads - I just don't like it cooked.
I'm getting annoyed with everything having sriracha sauce in it. But I confess I don't know if I like it or not because I haven't tried it yet.

Thursday morning greetings!  This afternoon I'm going to see Tina for a much-needed haircut and this evening is my book group's annual potluck dinner and movie night.

I LOVE pesto.  I love to make fresh pesto, as well.

Pesto is great on linguini.  And it's a nice spread on a turkey sandwich.

Temperatures in the 90's with a heat index of 100 degrees here for the next THREE days.....

And the neighbors who sells drugs bought their kids a Slip 'N' Slide.

As they would say in the TV version of DIE HARD - I bet that melon farmer is HOT!

A local forecaster has presented a "model" for what "might happen" here in early August.  He sees a possibility of a major heat system that could see temperatures in Oakland hit 105 - 110 degrees on August 4th and 5th.  EGADS.  GADZOOKS!  That's around the Bay Area.  Inland will be HOTTER!

We normally have temps in the 70s on typical summer days.  High 80s is a heat wave here.

I'm hoping it won't happen as I will be in the throes of finalizing my packing preparations and will need to have outside activity.  BUT...will stay indoors if it gets THAT hot, that's for sure.

Oh, they are tricky.  They will sneak it into your food, somehow.

Keith had steamed kale last night.  I wish I liked it as it is very healthy food.

DR TCB, I hope the reason for your anemia is found, and it will be a fairly easy fix.

Broadway is torn up with construction from 70 to 72nd Street, and there's one lane of traffic,  As a consequence, my bus trip to Radio City, which usually takes 30-40 minutes took 90 minutes.  I was 20 minutes late to my haircut and in a total rage.  My barber is fantastic, a really good man, and he cheered me up, as did my visit with Joshie.  Then I decided to try to avoid some of the construction mess by taking a 10th Avenue bus back uptown.  I waited at 57th and 10th for nearly 30 minutes for a goddam No. 11 bus.  There is supposed to be one every 12 minutes. This is ridiculous.

So, I got home and found the elevator crew ready to test drive the repair.  We'll see.

The problem with accessing this site in my iPad is that everything is so small and I cannot see the whole page at once hence sometimes days go by before I notice that I have a private message

Vixmom, can you adjust the font size in your browser to make it easier to read?  I have an android tablet and it's an option for me.  Hopefully, some solution can be found.

Just arrived from Amazon:  the original Broadway cast recordings of Amélie and War Paint, the deluxe edition movie picture soundtrack to Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast, AND the script to our very own Fred and Skip's full-length version of their musical The Last Starfighter!

A neighbor has a very fancy new car which is fine, however, Keith and I are gagging at the color.  It wouldn't be a big deal except the car is parked next to ours and we have to look at it every time we go to the garage.

I looked it up on line and there are some who like the color, though they seem to be in the minority.  Even those who do not like it say the upside is the ease at finding your car once you have parked it.

The comments that best fit our reaction to it:

"The Austin Yellow Metallic falls somewhere between Power Ranger yellow and 'Ghostbusters' Slimer green."

"That color looks like something I coughed up du
ring the middle of my last cold. Very bilious,"

"We recently fed our 5-month-old daughter pureed green beans ... the end result was the same color"

A female Bobbie in Company? Sounds like a fun take on the show.

I really disliked Amelie in the theater. More because it was boring than actively bad. Let me know what you think.

I'll listen to it as soon as I finish Betty Buckley's Story Songs that I got earlier this month.
