I am watching A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN!!!  Love this sad, yet hopeful, endearing film!!!

That one always makes me tear up.

Wonderful novel.  I haven't seen the film in ages.

This morning I shall copy new reed and violin parts for "the number," assemble the books, assemble tomorrow's work kit, and close shop on the 2017 NYMF.

I hope they are paying you for all the extra orchestrations due to key changes

One way to get even with the universe would be to write as many songs as possible in C-flat -- and make sure they call for plenty of accidentals.  The few times I've encountered this myself can best be described as traumatic, and that's putting a happy face on it.

The curse of Finale transposing is that you need to know how to edit it.  In the transposed copt of the song I was sent on Friday, one 32 bar section was in C-sharp!  I had to transpose it myself to D-flat since the clarinet would have to play in E-flat, not D-sharp.

I'd read that Andrew Lloyd Webber loves the key of D-flat.

"Music of the Night", at least, would bear that out.

And in fact I'm thinking I've heard that he doesn't allow it to be transposed in the professional productions.

Bernard Herrmann certainly loved his low "D"s, if not necessarily the key of D minor.

Psycho main title theme is in Bb minor (secondary theme in Eb minor), but abruptly ends on his famous low D natural.

Chas Meat Market in San Antonio is now offering an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ buffet.

Any relation, Mr. Smith?

Here's a question for the group:

I thought IBDB.com had national tour information.  Maybe I'm not looking for it correctly.  Anyhoo...

Does anyone know if John Cullum ever did I Do! I Do! on tour?  (Someone in my family questioned whether we saw him in that in Florida in the late 1960s.)

I wonder: is my cousin's husband automatically my cousin (by their marriage) also?

I've always referred to my cousin and his wife, but maybe I'm just anal retentive. ::)

;)

I say cousin and his wife, or my cousin in-law, and sometimes just my cousin.  I might even say our cousin just booked a flight to visit when it is Keith's cousin who has done so ;)

I will try to jog at noon.  The meatballs with penne is not looking healthy so I'll probably trash that and eat after the talkback.

Finished adjusting, futzing and finessing the commentary, which is now pretty good.  Shortly I shall jog.

Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog - difficult today.  I'll be on my way to the theater in an hour and ten minutes.

I shall shortly be on my way to the theater for our talkback, after which I'll either go to Gelson's for food or go somewhere to sit and eat a nice meal.

I think BK should get the three kale salad. I'll take the deviled eggs. And the braised short rib hash.

Back from the talkback, which was lively.  I was told there were eleven people booked for today.  When I arrived at the end of the play I was rather surprised to find over seventy.  I'm bored of these people.

I'm still not home.  The baseball game was pretty good!  They won against the New York Mets, 9-1!
