Well, we had a nice outing this evening, but did not see The Merry Wives of Windsor.  We left here early enough to pick up sandwiches at Izzy's and we were going to have a picnic dinner at the park before the show.  We got a great parking place, but the thunder and lightening were beginning as we pulled in.  We decided to have our picnic in the car, which was a good thing because the heavens opened while we were eating.  My friend Becky, whose car was parked nearby, walked up soaking wet and eventually it was determined that the show would not go on.  Becky went home to dry out and Richard and I went to Graeter's.

This AWFUL NEWS was breaking on my Facebook feed when I first got up this morning.  Michelle's Mom is one of the Vera Bradley girls I used to get together with from time to time.

And this is my second Northern Kentucky friend to lose a child in a freak accident.  A librarian friend's then 9-year-old son (6 months younger than Rob) drowned in a storm drain.

Oh Ginny that is terrible. My deepest condolences to all

I'd kind drifted apart from the Vera girls, so have not seen Patty for several years.  I did follow, on Facebook, her own brave journey with breast cancer and the drug-related death of a nephew and hoped things were finally beginning to settle down for the family.

Well, I need to leave work now.  I'm meeting my friend Margo for dinner at a local restaurant.  I haven't been there in years (and I had only been a couple of times at all), but it's supposed to (still) be pretty darned good.

Be back later.

Had our little rehearsal, which wasn't quite as smooth as I like due to some brain gas passing on the part of the MD, but it's all good now.

Best thing o' the day: Last night I sent Richard Sherman an e-mail with the lyric I wrote for a new song for Levi, in an act two scene that desperately needed a song - I used the last line of the scene as the title, as it was kind of perfect.  Elizabeth didn't give it to him until five o'clock today.  He called me at 5:45 and played the music he'd just written - and it's beautiful.  He switched up the last four lines (which were kind of a coda - I did them in a certain style and he made it more like he and his brother would have done, which is fine by me), but just beautifully set the rest of my lyric.  I knew I had to write it because I knew exactly what it needed to say and how it needed to say it in terms of the character singing it.  So, Richard and I have written our second song.

Since I know you all like a good bargain story... I have 2 analon 8 inch French skillets which I love and use daily but they have become rather the worse for wear.

And lo and behold the skillet I wanted was on sale for $25 and they allowed the 25% off coupon to be used as well.  Free pickup at the store right down the road from work ..I ended up getting 2 for just over the price of one

Elmore, the new list of titles from Premiere Opera has a bootleg video of The New Yorkers. I'll have to get that when I can afford anything again.

The Washington Post reviewed McDonald's new sriracha and kale burger, which, I am sure, BK is aching to try:

It’s the fast-food equivalent of watching your father sport rompers and pledge his undying love for Drake. But the quarter-pounder jacked up on Sriracha Mac sauce doesn’t taste bad.

Two songs together now.  I can imagine how special this is for you.

That's so cool!  So, when are you going to write a whole show together? :D
