A lovely tale, DR Elmore!

It made me laugh.  I really detest folk who use their cell phones noisily in public.

Yesterday after a lousy bus ride, I formed a new detestation: parents who refuse to discipline their children and allow them to treat a packed bus as their personal jungle gym.  I wanted that child and her mother to be under the bus.

T.O.D.

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA
THE LION IN WINTER
THE STUNT MAN**
MY FAVORITE YEAR

**I watched this again about a month or so ago, and I was not as impressed as I was the first couple of times I saw it.  Years had passed since that last viewing.   O'Toole was fine, but I'm not sure the picture holds up that well.

Thursday morning greetings!  Quiet morning here and cool enough to turn off the AC and open the windows - ahhh!

I wonder if DR Jrand66 can tell us if there's any special disturbance in the heavens this past week or so.  Various friends are experiencing all manner of mishaps, and even my own adventures have been complicated in ridiculous ways.

Yesterday, two friends a few hundred miles apart from each other totaled their cars (fortunately, no personal harm).

Also yesterday, the local theater got declined on three (count em) play requests for next season due to regional conflicts, and they were already trying to come up with a replacement for a fourth -- that's four out of five productions.

And so it goes...

Maybe I mentioned this, but my friend Kristi had been running to doctors and the ER with odd pains and nausea over the past couple of weeks.  Every time someone thought they'd found the cause, the "solution" lasted but a day.  Finally, a CT-scan revealed a cyst on an ovary, and, long story short, they went in to remove it yesterday and check everything else out.  The surgeon said it was a large "free floating" fibroid which itself had grown a cyst, and it had been pushing against everything.  He just lifted it right out of her.  She has to heal from the surgery, but already feels like a million dollars.

Thought of you this morning, Fred. Heard Blossom Dearie sing an old DeSylva, Brown and Henderson tune called Tweet, Tweet that's ripe for mocking. Sadly, no one knows the song.

Given all the bad news and needed vibes on HHW, this is a nice change.

Same here, and I don't (yet?) use iTunes myself, either.  I know so little about it, and the things it does, that I can just say I know NOTHING about it and come out more truthful.

Boy, don't I know it.  We had a pretty good idea yesterday that it would have an uneventful outcome, but man, as soon as you hear "she just went into surgery"...  wow.  And the relief an hour later is a godsend.

Thank you, DR Jrand66.  I did wonder if the eclipse had much of a bearing on this stuff.

But DAMN.  I want it NOW.    :)

Right.  I guess that when I eventually acquire a Mac, that will have to change.  For now, I bask in my ignorance.

That's one of the problems with a mac; it's harder to find clear help online with what seem like they should be simple, direct functions.

After a tiring day, a commuter settled down in his seat and closed his eyes.
As the train rolled out of the station, the young woman sitting next to him pulled
out her cell phone and started talking in a loud voice:
"Hi sweetheart. It's Sue. I'm on the train".
"Yes, I know it's the six thirty and not the four thirty, but I had a long meeting".
"No, honey, not with that Kevin from the accounting office. It was with the boss".
"No sweetheart, you're the only one in my life".
"Yes, I'm sure, cross my heart!"
Fifteen minutes later, she was still talking loudly.
When the man sitting next to her had enough, he leaned over and said into the phone,
"Sue, hang up the phone and come back to bed."
Sue doesn't use her cell phone in public any longer.
