Tell your father my response :)

I certainly will.

Hope I get to talk to them again soon.  They don't have their own cell phones any more, but were using someone else's.

My nephew is in Fort Lauderdale.  I haven't found out if he evacuated or not.

What happened to their phones?  Did they forget to take their chargers?

Did they have to evacuate in Fort Lauderdale?

In my parent's area, they were just told to go to the shelters.

They had a great deal on them, and they enjoyed having it while the deal was going on - but then the deal was taken away, so they gave t up.  We may try after this to get them to have at least one cell phone again, whether or not they have a deal.

Someone said Miami has a forced evacuation.  Reading the evacuations notices for various areas, including Ft. Lauderdale, it seems there are zones and you need to know the zone number to tell if a person has to evacuate.  Of course I don't have this information.

Rush "Irma is fake" Limbaugh is apparently evacuating.

I wish the hurricane would blow his fat ass off the planet.

I am ready to head back to Ohio because this city is horrifying.  My simple bus trip to the Animal Center on East 110th Street took me two hours because of traffic and the current Transit Authority incompetence.  These fools can schedule buses they are too wealthy to ride and none of their decisions make sense. There are two No 15 buses running up First Avenue, the express and the local.  I needed the local, which arrived after a 30 minute wait during which 5 expresses stopped where I waited for a local.  That's complete incompetence.

So, my little kitten was adopted on Wednesday while I was returning.  I did meet a beautiful black and white kitten named Bella, who was very friendly and clear;y wanting to be adopted, but she's sick at the moment and needs a foster home since I was not prepared to bring a cat home today.

I also saw a beautiful, timid black kitten named Midnight, but I need to get some supplies in before I can adopt and bring home.

Did you get to play with the kittens?  If so I am sure they appreciated it even if you didn't take one home.

Before you adopt, calculate how much it will cost to board while you're out of town.

Elmore, I'm sorry your little tabby kitten was no longer available. I'm glad he got a home, though. Bless you for looking at shelter animals. I hope you find a great match.

I miss Joshie so much. Sometimes I feel like I want another cat, but I promised my husband we wouldn't get another until our current one is gone.

I really liked little Bella today and Midnight was cute, too.  The photos don't show their personality like the one that got away!

DR Michael what time did you board the plane?

15 minutes to spare. They let me on.

I feel the same way about missing our pets and especially want a cat.  I am the one holding back on getting pets at all.

Very kind of them.  Twice I have been the last to board with the doors shutting immediately behind me.

Depending where in Fort Lauderdale they live. There are "zones" and it depends where you live. It's a given if you live east of the Intercoastal it's a given. But generally, if you are east of the 1-95. You might also have to leave. But its the direction of how the storm will travel

I'm not sure how to express my feelings that Irma has shifted to the west coast. I'm glad that the east coast is not going to be in a direct path, but all the people of the west coast will be impacted. But the storm is going to cutting a wide swath across the state so we will still get a lot of rain and wind.

Fred, lovely story about your parents. I had no idea your father had been through so much. I hope they are safe and comfortable and are spared losses.
