Well, I just realized that the new liquid laundry detergent container that I got at Costco is leaking from one of the seams! I need to retun it and get another one.  This time I'll get a different brand.

Well, I'm a goon.  It turns out that it wasn't leaking from the seam, but just down the seam from the lid that you keep open to let in air.  However, I don't think I needed to open it until more of it has been used.  So, the detergent level was too high for me to have opened that lid yet.  You buy it like this:



(This isn't exactly what I bought, but it has almost the same kind of bottle.)

But when you want to use it, you set it up on its side so that the spout points down like this:

But then the lid the faces forward.  And when it's new and full, the detergent is above the level of the opening, so it leaked along the seam.  DOPEY ME!

Now, I have to vacuum.

Finally, Nick's item came up and I bid after not much action, he got it for half of what he was willing to pay, so that's good!

Good auction news.....but it was a LONG wait!

DR GEORGE that's why I switched to pods....just throw a couple in the washer....I don't have a fancy one with a reservoir....so I am lucky.....  I use GAIN a lot....I had been using Purex Pods, but my local WalMart stopped selling them....  I have also found that BOUNCE is a much better dryer sheet than what I had been getting at the Dollar Tree...and they are not that much more.

And the auction is STILL going on!  If they had a proper auctioneer it would have been over three hours ago.

One of the shilly bidders I've been watching has spent upwards of 50K.

It was a great concert and I got to see most of it. Had a smile on my face the entire time. Even better, the crowd had the best time and they were just as happy as I was.

Best part of the concert tonight was a performance of Opus One with the original Sy Oliver orchestrations.

The evening was set up as a tribute to Frank Sinatra and there was a singer whose voice was not like Frank's but he adopted Frank's mannerisms, including some of the ways in which Frank mangled lyrics. He also went up on the lyrics to "The Best Is Yet to Come," but I may be the only one who knew that.

I've been listening to A People's History of the United States, which is 35 chapters. This is on the library's electronic system. During the chapter tonight, there was something I don't think I've never heard in an audiobook: There's suddenly a break and then you hear the people in the recording studio talking about doing another take and it wasn't edited out. Then the narrative returns. Weird.

Back from a long day away from the hotel.   We saw War Paint and Torch Song.  We both enjoyed them very much. I have to say Mercedes Ruehl was very good in Torch Song but almost unrecognizable.    Michael Urie, who was in Buyer and Cellar, plays the lead, and was terrific.

Between shows we went to Juniors.  Not the one near Shubert Alley, but the new location on Broadway and 49th.  I was surprised to see the familiar logo while walking down Broadway.
