I have not chosen a cat/kitten since I was about 10 years old.  Sandra has chosen a few -- one from a friend's pet shop and two from shelters. Rex showed up at the house, and the rest (including Joshie) were fosters that didn't get adopted.

I have wanted a calico for years. So if I get to choose one, I would like a calico. Although I fully expect when I go to the shelter, I will probably fall in love with something else.

As I post this, we are within an hour or so of reaching - and then exceeding - 32 degrees F.

F is for Freezing.

This will be for the first time in ... how many days, I don't know.  A couple of weeks, easily.

Is that with or without the chill factor?

Without.

Then I hope the wind does not blow-burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I have a routine appointment this afternon with my cardiologist, who I usually see at his office just a few blocks from our home.  However, that office has been flooded and today he's seeing patients in their West Chester facility instead.  It's in an area where I frequently shop, so I'll be able to do a few errands as well.

Thank goodness he has another office and you don't mind going to it.

Vibes for a good report.

Oy!

Does it work with these machines to take everything out and simply reload it?  You can "fix" that problem in home machines sometimes.

No.  You need to disconnect for 30 minutes for the washer to reset. Then hope all is well.

I've never seen that before.  It is annoying enough when you need to re-balance the clothing, extremely annoying if it completely shuts the machine off.

DR Laura I seem to recall your original decision to wait on a kitten has to do with the fact you have an older cat (I greatly apologizing for not remember this cat's name) that will be very unhappy with a new kitten.

My suggestion then is to offer to foster the next litter of calico kittens ;)

Jane -- Rex is our remaining indoor cat. He showed up at the door several years ago. We have no idea how old he is, but suspect he is about 14. He and Joshie never got along -- he bullied Joshie. Joshie had no teeth to fight back.

Also -- the next one will be short-haired. No more fur mats!

I went to the bank, Dollar Tree, and WalMart all by myself today - and made it.....so life is getting back to normal.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to have my port flushed...which is just like getting a blood draw.  Then my sister and I are going to go shopping for a new backsplash for the kitchen...since it is now Cape Cod Gray just like the living room, the hallway, and the bathroom.

Nice weather predicted for here today, tomorrow, and Thursday....then snow and ice accumulations Friday and Saturday....

JRand, are you all finished with treatments? When are they going to take out the port? Or do they leave it in forever?

That's a nice score DR GEORGE!

DR TCB - your computer comes with so much space on its hard drive.  If you get an external hard drive, you can store programs and photos and documents, etc, there and use less space on your internal hard drive.  Your computer can run faster, I think.

I have 1 TB of memory on my computer, but most of my above named stuff is saved on an external 1 TB hard drive.  It uses a USB cable and is always plugged in, so it is easy to use.

I am thinking about getting a larger one 2 or 4 TB so I can put even more stuff from my internal drive on it......

George, you missed Tom's question last night.

Thanks, Jane.  I did!  Here's his question:
Quote
I hate to sound stupid but what exactly is an external hard drive?

Here is a short answer:

Quote
An external hard drive is a portable storage device that can be attached to a computer through a USB or FireWire connection, or wirelessly. External hard drives typically have high storage capacities and are often used to back up computers or serve as a network drive.

I expected to leave for City Center around 9:30, but Joshie sent me an email that he will be stuck at home this morning with service men and internet problems.  I may do some laundry.

SERVICE MEN AND INTERNET PROBLEMS - sounds like a possible title for a special-interest mature audience film, maybe a modern "THE PIZZA BOY, HE DELIVERS"

:))

Sometimes those short-haired cats shed more, or it is just more difficult to pick up short hair than long hair.  I know what you mean about brushing.

While I kind of know what an external drive is there was no way I could answer the question.

Cardiology check-up was uneventful, but I learned a lot about the disaster at their local office.  It sounds like a real mess.  Wonder where my appointment will be 6 months from now...
