I've been watching the Criterion Collection Thief of Baghdad, which is quite wonderful. The extras include a second Alexander Korda movie, a pro-English WWII propaganda piece called The Lion Has Wings, and a neat little feature on the special effects that's wonderful because it includes an interview with Ray Harryhausen, who was deeply inspired by the movie.

I'm now listening to Michael Powell dictate a section of his autobiography on both films, which he worked on for Korda.

Does this creation have a name? A French friend asked an American bakery to do a French wedding cake for his American wedding. It came out very similar to this. I'm not sure what a French version would look like.
