Basta!

-OK - I think I'm actually going to go out for a drive myself shortly.  Too much time indoors lately.  As they say in Avenue Q, there is life outside your apartment.

Hmm... Maybe I'll venture to the music store...  Today was payday...  Hmm...  I can see the sign now:

"Will Bake for Vocal Selections"

Panni what did the audience person do when you said move?-LOL

Yes, the problem with scones in this country is they are usually too sweet.  Suggestion, if you can see sugar sprinkled on the top-PASS.

JMK I wish I had seen the Ellen DeGeneres episode-very funny.
I still don't understand why her last sitcom was cancelled-very funny lady.

I just threw out my list of classic funny people.  I’m really not into stand up comedy, leaving me with a very short list of Post Modern comics, and I’m not referring to their film work.

Bill Cosby
Billy Crystal
Bob Newhart
Jerry Lewis

For the Kristen Chenoweth fans, here's an article from this morning's Cincinnati Enquirer:

news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050113/LIFE/501130342/1086

Please keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't cancel with the Pops again this weekend, because my DH and I have wonderful seats for Sunday evening to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary (actually on Monday).

DRGinny, I hope you and Richard have a wonderful time!  After learning today that Ms Chenowith is performing at the 2nd Inauguration of George W Bush, I have nothing to wish her but a new brain and far away from me!

I am an M. Night Shyamalan (sp?) fan, but I had different reactions to some of his films from the rest of you.

"Signs" resonated with me from start to finish.

I thought SCARY MOVIE 3 made more sense of SIGNS and THE RING than the original films did.

LOL.

Ellen DeGeneres with Cloris Leachman (another very funny lady) as her mother.  It was hardly given a chance to succeed.

Well... The sun has come out and I believe it is beckoning me to come out too.  Come outside that is.  Heck, I came out my senior year in high school! - November 22, 1985, to be exact!

So...  Time for me to get in my motor car and drive about the Northern Virginia metro area.  Hmm.. Maybe I'll get my hair cut...  or find other ways to spend my newly direct-deposited money!

Laters...

Ooh, I must pull out my Stan Freberg CD and listen to St. George and the Dragonnet.

So, the traffic this morning was worse than yesterday and last night.  I thought Laurel Canyon might be open for the drive back and it was and the traffic was backed up to Sunset.  Isn't that funny?  What's funny is that Nichols Canyon, a mere half-mile east of Laurel, was totally empty and I breezed home from there.  I exchanged my speakers and bought the ones I first had chosen and got talked out of by a salesperson.  This salesperson talked me into buying cheaper speakers?  Whaddup with that, dawg?  Anyway, I went with my first choice.  I unpacked them when I got home and put in the batteries and did everything I was supposed to.  This unit is quite attractive and it folds up for traveling.  Obviously it comes in the folded position and I swear to you, dear readers, you need a Bachelor's Degree in something to figure out how it opens.  This is because there is a diagram sheet with no printing on it, just silly little diagrams which have NO CONTEXT.  I called The Apple Store, got a manager on the phone and he told me to put the unit face down, with the plugs facing away from me and PUSH.  I PUSHED.  Nothing happened.  I PUSHED some more.  Nothing happened.  He couldn't help me further.  I called Altec Lansing and they helped me instantly. You didn't have to PUSH you had to PULL.  I have PULLED and all is well and these speaker are GREAT.  And I am done with all this technology and shall now go eat lunch and then get back to the real world.

Good afternoon all

I happen to be a great fan of comedy...written, stand up, etc...so here's my list, in no particular order -

Stand Up-
Bill Cosby - classic comedy, end of story
Eddie Izzard - guy in makeup and heels, british wit...how can you go wrong?
Robin Williams - guilty pleasure
George Carlin - offensive but intelligent, more amusing that laugh-out-loud funny
Dennis Leary - just because

Written -
Dave Barry (HUGE fan of Dave Barry)  I think it's his word selection that makes him so funny...he has a way of telling the most simple story that has me in tears.

TV -
Seth MacFarlane...the genius behind Family Guy.  Anyone who knows his musical theater and isn't afraid to spoof it on television has gotta be cool.

Alan Alda - M*A*S*H in general is more apt to make me actually laugh out loud than almost any other TV show.

Movie-wise, I'm very picky about my comedy.  I have no use for slapstick in general, old or new.
David Spade was wonderful as the voice of the Emperor in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove...but I can't stand him in his other works.

Jim Carey...he can be funny, but once he starts in on his trademark goofy comedy, I get bored very quickly.

I loathe Ben Stiller, and do not find him in the least bit funny.  Most of my friends adore him...I keep my mouth shut.

k, enough out of me for now

I felt so cheated with SIGNS that I didn't even watch or rent THE VILLAGE.

Don't judge this film by the trailers.  They give TOTALLY the wrong impression.   I saw this film twice.  The first time I was captivated by the story.  The second time, I was totally moved by the beauty of the film.  Do not front this movie expecting a full on horror.  To me, it was more of a psychological drama - with some extremely moving scenes.

P.S.  The soundtrack is terrific.

b.  paid some bills via the net

c.  compiled a list of dvds and cds to take to a friend on Sunday

(isn't that what work time is for....?)

I'll sneak in later and read the postings.

Oh, your talking about her second sitcom.  That one was just not funny at all.  The writing was terrible.

The horors of Nazism seem to be lost on the youth of today (and the youth of the 90s, 80s, 70s and 60s).

I've known perfectly wonderful people (otherwise) who have been totally infatuated with the Third Reich and all things Nazi.....not that they embraced what the Nazis did, but with the ideals of nationalism that swept up Germany and Germans...including the call for racial purity among aryans.

As IF....

What is terribly certain now is that the aryan blood of the monsters who formed the Third Reich was tainted with insanity, subhuman mentality and, dare I say it, terminal physical ugliness.

Could the Germans NOT SEE that the people espousing the blond-eyed, blue-haired genetic ideal were, themselves, trolls who possessed none of the DNA they purported to want to perpetuate.

Rant...rave....rant...snort...rave....

Geez, I'm steamed.

Conan O'Brien also makes me laugh.  When he first took over Late Nite, I thought he was terrible but now I think he's terrifically funny.  When I stay up that late to watch him, that is.

Prince Harry is an idiot.

And I'll say it here:  He resembles NO ONE in the royal family.  He resembles the riding instructor with whom Diana had her first affair...Hewitt, was it???
