That darn Ann, always catching up.

Ice Station Zebra was a "Cinerama" film in name only. Cinerama as a process (three separate strips of film, three projectors) went away after How The West Was Won. So, while Ice Station Zebra showed in some Cinerama theaters it was simply 70mm. That said, if you're not seeing small bars top and bottom your TV isn't set up correctly. If you have a widescreen TV you should see the black bars which are set for an approximately 2.20 ratio.

DR MBarnum - If you happen to read this before 11:35 PST - ABC's 20/20 is about Bollywood tonight. I just finished watching it. It was a good intro to the genre. -However, I did find the one Indian-American filmmaker a bit obnoxious and actually condescending to his culture. Very opportunist. However... A nice Bollywood primer.

DR Michael Shayne: Even though ICE STATION ZEBRA was billed as a Cinerama film, it would not have filled the entire curved screen of a true Cinerama theater. Super Panavision 70 (which MY FAIR LADY was also filmed in) was actually not quite as wide as Cinemascope and certainly not as wide as Ultra Panavision (which the Brando MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, MAD MAD WORLD and a few others were filmed in) or real Cinerama. I saw it at the Cinerama theater here in Charlotte (the Carolina - it pushed '2001' out of the theater) and found it overlong and not particularly interesting. Its aspect ratio at 70 mm is 2.20:1. Ultra Panavision was 2.76:1

I'm on later than usual because I watched the men's and women's short programs on ESPN2 tonight, and they didn't start until 10:30. Beautiful skating.

I honestly thought Matt Savoie won the men's short program (the judges placed him fourth).

I thought Jenny Kirk won the women's short program (the judges placed her third).

We started getting the street closings list for next week's Inaugural Festivities. They actually started closing some streets downtown tonight - well, at least limiting their access. Some closings will take place Sunday night, and then the majority will take place starting Wednesday afternoon. Of course, the show must go on, so we all started planning alternate routes and also deciding whether or not to take the Metro in. Taking Metro is OK, but due to Arena's location on the Green Line, it will require 2 transfers. And for myself, since I'm out in Fairfax, the trip will take at least one hour to make, so... I'll keep my ears on the traffic reports on the radio and take it from there. As long as the roads actually do start to open back up after 4:00pm next Thursday...

But, in general, it's going to be a little inconvenient getting across and through town all next week. Let's just hope everyone behaves.

I've brought the Hotel's garbage to be picked up later, a few minutes ago.

Made some coffee for the "caféterie" for breakfast. It's 6:54 am here!

Brought in the rolls and croissants (fresh) that were delivered around 6:30 am!

Cleaned my hands, blew my nose! Checked what was going on outside, because some jerk was blowing his horn "unseemlessly"! At 6:51 am, with my guests asleep!

Wonder if his name is Gabriel!

I actually tried to watch some DVDs this week, but my father disconnected the DVD played in the family room in order to hook up his karaoke machine, so...

However, I did bring my DVD played back from Richmond, and I can hook that one up downstairs on the BIG home-theatre screen down there. -It's my brother Don's TV. He just doesn't want to deal with having to move it into his new place just yet. It's BIG. So...

I agree with you on Savoie.

Jenny Kirk was "just average", IMO. Her skating is perfunctory and lacks imagination, creativity and flow. She could use some flair if she can find any anywhere.

Kwan -- who was magnificent in all respects -- was fire and magic and gossamer enchantment. Her program seems to last a minute and no more.

Kirk's seemed like 5 minutes. She's very lucky to be in third place, IMO, because Beatrisa Lang outskated her at every turn.

I have caught up, as they say.

It is a rather boring Friday evening around these here parts. Nothing much decent on TV. My mother is staying with me, so she's dominating the remote, as usual. Our tastes are so vastly different when it comes to TV, that I usually let her take the remote as the guest, and find something else to occupy my attention.

My boys have been sick all week...and now I'm feeling a tickle in my throat that makes me nervous. The last thing I want is to be sick right before I go in for surgery.

Actually, Mr. Brown will be in town next week for a few booksignings next Tuesday. We're actually off next Tuesday night since we have a Monday night show (ugh). I was thinking of staying in town and going to the early signing in Clarendon, and then going to Disney's ON THE RECORD that night (we were offered comps), but I think I'm going home to Richmond Monday night after the show, so...

Hmm... I should check the Richmond listings.... He did a signing there last time too.. Hmm...
