I am home from Farinelli and the King, which I think I enjoyed.  I was moved by parts of it and confused by others.  I really think Mark Rylance is amazing, but I felt his part could have been trimmed so we got a little more from several other characters.  The design was gorgeous and the artificial theatricality of the staging was stunning.  The baroque ensemble was amazingly good, but a little Händel foes a long way at times and I would ave been happier with maybe two less.  The last aria was heartbreaking.

I just heard (I'm not exactly up on the news, you see) that Colonel Sanders' Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC, if you must) was running out of chicken yesterday.

What kind of chicken jernt runs out of chicken after all these years?

I have no idea if the other chains are affected by this shortage, but oddly, we were just talking about checking out our new Popeye's this evening.

I'd read that, but it was KFCs in England that were affected.

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Was Sherman Oaks named after a Sherman, an oak owned by a Sherman, or someone named Sherman Oaks?

I'm pleased to hear that Annabelle is coming around. I suspect she's still a little sore.

I had a hair appointment this morning, then stopped at my favorite food store. More to do before I call it a day.

Yes, they'd hired a new supplier, who apparently wasn't quite up to the task.

Jane, in answer to your question last night about whether I used to wear ski pants in the snow, no. I usually wore jeans with leggings underneath. Once the jeans get wet, I'd get cold. Thus the need for waterproof pants. My favorite winter coat was quite long, but too nice to wear when digging out my car. Then I wore a parka and jeans/leggings.

She's back!

Annabelle's been head butting me, doing her little polka step to be petted, and wrestling with Thatch.  Their hide and seek inside amazon house was really funny.

I needed snow clothes for playing with the boys when they were young.

When we lived in Pennsylvania legging worn over jeans were popular.  On sunny days I would wear long underwear, jeans, and my leggings and be comfortable while sledding.  I loved those days.

Health vibes to both Jane and Keith.

Thank you.  Keith stayed home again today which is a good indication he is not well.  He is feeling better.  I continue to be the same and keeping my fingers crossed I don't get better.  I skipped a walk in the cold today in order to work around here.  I figured my lungs could use a day off from the colder temps.

Here is the front flap copy of the new book, which will hopefully allay any fears of a horror story or scary book :)

GEE is the story of a headstrong, willful and most peculiar girl who navigates her way from the early years of the twentieth century, through nine decades of living.  It’s a life filled with the history of those decades, a life filled with wonder, sorrow, happiness, fate, unrequited love, and all the rest of it. She’s a girl with an indomitable spirit, humor, strength, and a unique perspective of the world and life.

It is also the story of another young woman navigating her way through life in the early twenty-first century.  It’s a very different world and a very different kind of journey.

GEE is the tale of these two women, a tale told with warmth and humor.  It’s a portrait of lives connecting across generations in ways that are sure to surprise and enchant readers of all ages.

Sherman Oaks was named by a tank.

A tank?  Is that a reference to the developer Gen. Moses Hazeltine Sherman?
