It is often very distracting.  You find yourself listening to the music, and trying to figure out where the music is from.

I was able to sign up for a free month of CBS All Access so that I can watch Star Trek Discovery for free.  I know I won't continue and pay for it when the free month is up.

Use the music between the scenes and acts, and let the actors handle the emotions during the play.

When I did INHERIT THE WIND, the director used music from JFK, but he used it sparingly, and it was very effective.

Well, I need to go to bed.  Tomorrow will be a day.  I have my family's weekly family dinner, but I'll have to leave by 5:15 or so because I'm ushering for a free military band concert downtown.  I think it's usually very well attended, so it should be good.
