No, you're not.  I am here because I got adventurous and wrote one set of liner notes.  So, one down, one to go for this release.

I am still waiting for the Sandman to throw a pound or two in my face, so that I can get some sleep.

Jane, I haven’t seen Shape of Water yet but Sally Hawkins gave a better performance in Maudie. Margot Robbie in I, Tonya and Siamese Ronan in Lady Bird were both better than McDormand, an actress I usually love.

As for Rockwell, I think Woody Harrelson in the same movie gave a better performance.

It's a gloomy, rainy morning in Manhattan.  I'm happy I'm not going out in it.

I accomplished nothing on How To Succeed . . . yesterday but I did make a big dent in the chaos of my apartment that was most necessary, and many bools and CDs were put away.  Today, I'll be very intense with the Loesser score.

T.O.D.

This wasn't really a play, but a short story by Evan Hunter (THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE).  As I recall, the title was THE LAST SPIN.

Back when I was a junior in high school, my late friend, Gene Rice, discovered this short story about two teens from rival gangs who are chosen by their respective gangs to play a game of Russian roulette in order to avoid an all-out gang war.  The survivor's gang wins the territory.

The two kids start out as enemies, but as they pass the gun back and forth, they bond and, just before the final trigger is pulled, they decide to "screw the gangs".  Unfortunately the last chamber is not empty.

I adapted the short story into play form, a rather simple task, and Gene and I presented it in front of the Drama class.  It went over so well, and the teacher and school principal considered it such a good life lesson, that over the next few weeks, they brought different classes in to see our play.

We were a hit!

George, so you'd be on for seeing that combo preview-final dress.

I've never had a production I wrote that had a "Pay what you can" first showing. Always either a totally-free final dress, or regular price from first perf in the (admittedly not so vast) past. I have no idea if that make seats harder to get for that night, easier to get, or maybe means nothing for seat demand.

So TCB and Jane, before I contact the theater - what are your thoughts as to whether you'll want seats that June 14th night.  (I'm hoping since neither Skip nor I will be asking for any unique seating the rest of the run (people who've mentioned going to the regular perfs have been able to buy easily online; all perfs AFTER the 14th are there, but the 14th is not), the 14th seating will be easy.

And the rest, as seen in your books, is history!

It's a day for staying indoors!

But I must, at some point this afternoon, walk the trash can down to the road for tomorrow's pickup. And I'm on my last two K-cups so a quick trip to Stew Leonard's is in order.

The one-act play thing has become a "thing" among our theaters, too, as has improv, and I haven't been moved to want to go near any of it.

Every term, the Miami University theatre dept. performed a night of 3-5 one-act directed by the directing class students, and I was in several of them.  i was usually cast in the ones that were termed theatre of the absurd - Ionesco's Foursome and The Bald Soprano,  Albee's The Sandbox and The American Dream - but I remember being in one by John Galsworthy, and seeing performances of Giraudoux's The Apollo of Bellac, Synge's Riders to the Sea, Pinter's The Dwarfs, and Tennessee Williams' The Gnädiges Fraulein.

Our accompanist - neither one of them - were able to come to the read thru yesterday, so the director DIRECTED me to play the CD when a song came up.  The cast sang along....and were surprised at some of the original tempi - as well they should be.

ANYWAY - we ordered some extra books, so everyone should have one sooner or later....even the no-name orphans, some of whom decided they wanted DIFFERENT names than their middle names.

I do NOT LIKE working with children...one or two would be fine - but NINETEEN is way too many!  The director is finished with THE GLASS MENAGERIE after this week, so she should be back!!!  I hope.

I was also given "We'd Like to Thank You, Herbert Hoover" to stage, which will be fun.  It will be the only number in the show without cartwheels and back flips.

I would love the real thing of which DR Elmore posts. I'd eat it all up.

I just know that what everyone's doing around here would be as BK describes.
