On a more uplifting note, here is a video of Spencer cheering on the runners during the cold, windy Boston Marathon.  People are yelling, OMG he is so cute.

And on that note (F#), I'm leaving work.  I was able to get my butt outta bed this morning and get to work early, so now I get to leave early.  I'd actually go to rehearsal instead, but I need to go to my condo's annual HOA meeting, so I can't stay and I'm not going to tonight's rehearsal. ::) I told the director last week when I found out that today was the HOA meeting.  Oh, well.  I'll be at rehearsal tomorrow.

Be back later!

T.O.D.

This wasn't really a play, but a short story by Evan Hunter (THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE).  As I recall, the title was THE LAST SPIN.

Back when I was a junior in high school, my late friend, Gene Rice, discovered this short story about two teens from rival gangs who are chosen by their respective gangs to play a game of Russian roulette in order to avoid an all-out gang war.  The survivor's gang wins the territory.

The two kids start out as enemies, but as they pass the gun back and forth, they bond and, just before the final trigger is pulled, they decide to "screw the gangs".  Unfortunately the last chamber is not empty.

I adapted the short story into play form, a rather simple task, and Gene and I presented it in front of the Drama class.  It went over so well, and the teacher and school principal considered it such a good life lesson, that over the next few weeks, they brought different classes in to see our play.

We were a hit!

And the rest, as seen in your books, is history!

I wish that photo was in one of my books.  I've no idea where it might be.

DR Jennifer, have you read ARROWOOD by Laura McHugh?  If not I think you would like it.

Not only have I not read it, but I have never heard of it. Looking at the summary and ratings it doesn't really pique my interest.  I have so many mysteries already on my TBR list that I really want to read.  Did you really love it?

Went out to celebrate a friend's birthday. Had a beer, a burger and some nice talk. I feel a little better.

Back to King Lear. Doubt I'll be able to see all three hours of it tonight.

Well, I shouldn't or I'll likely fall asleep at work. And I don't need that to happen.

I started Hemingway's A Moveable Feast recently. I do not like Hemingway, but I am enjoying this one. I'm very surprised.

Of all the books that won the Pulitzer today, the biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder is what interests me the most.

I feel out of it; I haven't seen any of the three Pulitzer drama finalists.  That's unusual for me.

Sorry to read about Harry Anderson. I loved Night Court and enjoyed him on Cheers.

Has anyone heard Damn, the Kendrick Lamar CD that won the Pulitzer for music? I've placed a hold at the library.

The Lear disc might be defective. So, I'm now listening to a volume of Unmasked: The Platinum Collection of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Sorry, but these aren't the best recordings of these songs out there. And, not surprisingly, there's no Patti LuPone. But there is Madonna. And there's too much Michael Crawford.

No songs from The Beautiful  Game, The Woman in White, Stephen Ward, By Jeeves or The Likes of Us.

This picture makes it look grey with brown lettering but it's really teal with black lettering
