Today I will also be making a call to Amazon in the Case of the Disappearing Reviews, which should be interesting.
Basically, what happened was this: I read GEE way back when and put a review on Amazon. Later, housemate Kristi read her own copy and also put up a review. It was up there for a few glorious seconds, when both hers and mine got zapped by an unseen force.
She called Amazon, and long story short (it took forever due to both the general communication challenge and the rep's inability to see the cause or give any meaningful explanation), but she finally got an email indicating that the reason for hers being taken down was that her account has "elements" in common with another account from which a review of the same product had originated. This, in Amazon's view, indicates the strong possibility of bias in both reviews.
When I talked to them about my own having disappeared, my rep could also "see" nothing wrong and said that if I didn't get an email saying someone had flagged it as offensive or inappropriate, then it was probably a system glitch and that I should feel free to resubmit my review. That, of course, was also blatantly bullshit, as when I went to do so this morning, I was blocked from doing so -- as Kristi still is.
So now I'll be attempting to convince a rep (in the U.S.) that there were not only two separate purchases of the item (three, actually, as I reviewed based on my Kindle reading, and we each bought a hard copy from Kritzerland), and that there is
(get ready for it)
no collusion!
