Well, I hate to do it (and you know that I do), but I need to go to sleep now...at least, attempt to try to get to sleep.

The cats actually let me sleep to 7:00 before pestering me.  I'm still in shock.

Ever since yesterday's news of my friend Loyce's declining health, I'm in a state of confusion and depression.  I'm keeping my thoughts focused on getting through Page's funeral tomorrow, and I feel much like I felt in Feb. 2007 when Randy, Jo and I sat deathwatch for our father.

{{{Hugs}}} for DR Elmore.  It’s a helpless feeling, isn’t it?

I met Loyce in March 1973 when she played Polly Peachum in a production of Threepenny Opera that I directed, and we were close friends for 45 years.  She was a very pretty soprano and we did a lot of community theatre together.  She was responsible for one of the worst weekends of my life in May 1982 when her marriage broke up and she flew to New York.  For three days I had a good friend going through a nervous breakdown in my apartment.  It was hell, but I'm very glad I was there for her because she was always there for me.

Last June, when I was back in Ohio and I spent a day with her, I was aware that she was showing signs of dementia.  Her sister told me she believes it was the result of a botched surgery on her spine to deal with sciatica issues.  Perhaps I'll never know if it were or not.

Here are photos of Loyce in 1976 Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well . . . and my last Ohio production, The Beggar's Opera. The last photo is from DR Ginny's wonderful party last year.  Loyce amd Diane alternated the role of Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance.

T.O.D.

Since it's summertime, there are few things on the tube worth watching these days.

However, we did see a good movie on Showtime (?) or HBO (?) or one of those premium channels last night.

It was called DEAN w/Demetri Martin, Kevin Kline and Mary Steenburgen.  I highly recommend it.

We need a good laugh.

Peter Marshall: True or false...there are more psychiatrists in Beverly Hills than plumbers.
Paul Lynde: When my toilet's backed up, I don't care who fixes it.

Peter Marshall: Eddie Fisher recently stated, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for them both.” Who or what was he referring to?
Paul Lynde: His fans.

Peter Marshall: When you pat a dog on its head he will usually wag his tail. What will a goose do?
Paul Lynde: Make him bark.

I also met Loyce in community theatre, a year or so after DR Elmore did.  In recent years she tried to be involved in our AAUW group, but her cognitive impairments made that difficult.  I’m awfully glad we had that party a year ago last Sunday...
