Father's Day greetings!  We're up early for Fr. Richard to conduct the service at Christ the King in Dayton.  This is his 3rd different church in as many weeks...

Exactly 50 years ago "Hello, Dolly!" was filmed along the Hudson River.  There's a several-month celebration in a couple of the towns involved.

Yesterday, in Garrison, NY, the "Put on Your  Sunday Clothes" number was recreated with special guest star Tommy Tune, who played Ambrose in the movie.   It was a lot of fun!  I too the train from Grand Central Station with a couple of friends.

Before the Parade we went to Cold Spring, which is one stop on the train before Garrison.  The Putnam County History Museum has an exhibit devoted to the movie and has the outfit Ms. Streisand wore in the number.

Christopher Radko, who is famous for designing ornaments, was behind the celebration.  He lives in that area (he actually moved there because of his love for the movie).   He went to great lengths to locate the dress and finally located it in Barcelona, Spain.  The owner agreed to rent it to the museum for a few months.

There were other interesting artifacts, such as a listings of the salaries of the actors, information about homes that were rented for the shooting, newspaper clippings, programs in foreign languages.  They also had the outfits of several of the other characters.

I got up thinking today was Monday,  fed the cats at 6:45, turned on the news, realized it wasn't Monday, and went back to bed.

I especially like this series of lies:
“Emily is an Ohio transplant who came from nothing and willed herself to great success to become an attorney, a part-time party-planer, a wife and a mom.”

A lot of bullshit there:
  1. her mother's family was wealthy, one of Middletown's "Great 400," and by 1976 or so, when she was born, my family was doing quite well with my dad's company.
  2. the only true white trash in her family is her stepmother Lady M.
  3. some Bravo PR person cannot spell "planner."

My last contact with Emily was when I got a call from Macbeth asking me to help her out; she'd come to NYC on some cockamamie "large women" modeling scheme, had to leave her place she was staying, and would I help her?  Well, she'd been here for some time and I never knew it since she did not contact me and when I called her to see what I could do to help, she never returned my calls.  She returned to Ohio at some point and went into law.

Randy and I wait to see how soon Lady M tries to wedge her way into the series.
