It was supposed to be a surprise. I didn't see your list until late last night

I really do appreciate it.  I'm giving you one for Christmas! :)

DR Vixmom, your gift just arrived.  Thank you so much!

The Supreme Court is so screwed.  I cannot believe the mess this country is in, thanks to the Trump election.

Louisville had vicious storms yesterday. A tornado touched down about 4 miles from Mom and Dad, who were without power for more than 24 hours.

Power is back on, but things have been a little crazy. Sensing the timing, the batteries inside both fire alarms decided to go on the fritz. An overhead fluorescent kitchen light is flickering. Another lamp has apparently disintegrated. (I don’t understand that but Mom was too exhausted to make herself clear.) oh, and a window in their breakfast area blew out. Mom covered that with plastic.

They complained to a neighbor about the dark and their emergency lights were buried deep in the basement.

A well-intentioned neighbor brought the McDonald’s, but a cheeseburger, fries and shake were all the wrong foods for Dad. His blood sugar is close to 500.

Did you make the pizza yourself?

No. Just a slice from my favorite place.

Thank you both. It is hard, especially trying to get Mom not to get on a step ladder.

I'm back from my fun trip to Chicago.  Did a lot of tourist stuff, like the Architecture Tour on the river, the Bean, the Shedd Acquarium, the (ferris) Wheel,

My friend and I also had deep dish pizza at two different places:  Lou Malnati's  and Gino's.  We liked Lou's better but both were good.

We had purchased tickets for Sunday matinee of "The Cher Show" months ago.  We also entered the lottery for Saturday's shows.  My friend won the it for the Saturday matinee, so we saw the show $27.  The seats were very good--2nd row on the right side.

At the Sunday matinee, just as Act 2 was about to begin, there was a big commotion, with lots of people cheering and applauding.  I stood up and saw Cher herself walking down the aisle.  She sat three rows behind me (I was in the 6th row center and my friend was in the 2nd row center).   I felt sorry for the cast of the show since I don't think anyone was paying attention to the song that opened Act 2.

I enjoyed "The Cher Show," but as Cher recently commented, it needs work.   The performers are really great.  Jarrod Spector plays Sonny Bono and is terrific.  When he started his part of "I Got You, Babe" the audience burst into applause because he sounded just like Sonny.  As he continued to sing it was very apparent that he's a much better singer than Sonny.

Emily Skinner plays Cher's mother and is very funny.  There are three actresses who play Cher at different ages.  Stephanie J. Block was the only one I was familiar with, but the others are terrific too.

I'll be curious to see what changes they make when it goes to Broadway in November.
