Have to get ready for another trip.  I'm shuffling off to Buffalo on Saturday.  It's my great-niece's first birthday and there's a party.

Well, shit.  I now possess two Overflow Alarms and I cannot get either of the two to work.  The batteries are in, they've been turned on, the sensors wetted, and nothing happens.  Then to continue a shitty day, I had to pull out the big ladder and climb ten feet off the ground to change the kitchen light.

Not a good or productive afternoon and I keep thinking it's Friday.

Darn.  I hope it isn't a problem returning them both.

There was an interesting article in the NYT earlier today about a bookshop with apartment above in Scotland. You rent the two for a week at a time. Of course, it has now disappeared! If I can find it later I'll post it.

It sounds like a fun place to stay, unless the street is noisy.

From Facebook: Jack’s mother died this evening.

Oh, no. :'(

DR Ginny, your funeral ephemera arrived today.  That photo is much like Loyce when I net her in 1973.

I thought that might be the case.

I helped Joy pick up her husband after his gallbladder was removed. He took a long time coming out of the anesthesia and was slightly dizzy but OK, I hope.

Joy, meanwhile, has been undergoing a form of physical therapy that has her feeling worse than when she started. She's been having a vertebra problem and the treatments sound hellish. They involve needles, but not in an acupuncture sort of way.

Watching Maureen O'Hara, Gloria Grahame and Melvyn Douglas in a so-so movie called A Woman's Secret. O'Hara did her own singing, Grahame did not. Douglas does his best, but the script, based on a Vicki Baum novel, doesn't help.

Jrand, so sorry. But I know that your mother was a wonderful one and you had so many years with her.

Vibes of comfort to you and your family.

Elmore the reviews I read said that the alarm only works when the sensor is fully submerged.  Did you submerge it or just wet it?
