I'm finishing off my Peckinpahs from the library. Tonight it's Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Always good to see Warren Oates, but so far the screenplay isn't the best.

I spent too much of my time with IT today trying to get my laptop to work from home while waiting for a plumber. It was irritating after the first few hours.

The plumber came and replaced the broken faucet handle out back in less than five minutes, so that wasn't a problem. Five minutes' work for $120 (parts and labor). Could have been worse.

Then I went in to work and spent half of the afternoon trying to get IT to fix the laptop. BS.

I did start listening to a what promises to be a fun book today, Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. It's a YA book, but it's well-written, the characters are interesting.

Wae-Ling has been here for the past several days, helping me with a project. She's a very good worker. And I'm pooped. When did I get this old?

We roasted a turkey the other day and have been eating leftovers ever since. Today we made biscuits for turkey al a king. We also made a loaf of rosemary bread.

Because, why not run the oven on a day it is 116 degrees?

I got up at 4 a.m. today to go hiking, because I have not been hiking for a couple of weeks. But I was so tired I went back to sleep and slept until 7 a.m.

Laura, I hate valet parking almost as much as you do. I fully empathize.

Well, I just had one of the Push-Ems® and I need to take them home and throw them away. :P Evidently, I'd had them too long and they're really not very fresh.  They're not horrible, but just a little too old.

Alfredo Garcia -- sounds like an Italian-Mexican plate -- is a despicable movie. I really dislike most of the characters. Great actors, though.

And now, it's past time for me to leave work, so I'd better be going.

Be back later.

I think Sam Rockwell is fairly good casting as Bob Fosse. But Michelle Williams is too spiritually shy for Gwen Verdon.

Took today off to attend a noon book discussion in at the public library in Hamilton.  The book was The Paris Wife, one of my favorites, and Cynthia did a good job reviewing it for us.

It is the only book I have read by this author.  It did not make me interested in reading more of her books.  Did you like it?

Yes, DR Jane, I did like it.  She has a new novel that’s based on the life of Hemingway’s third wife Martha Gelhorn.  That one interests me, too.

I suppose if I liked these people I would have enjoyed reading about them :)

Well, there is that...

I’m attracted to the time period and the locale, so liking the people isn’t a requirement for me.

LOL.  Liking the people is a major requirement for me.  Of course I don't normally li,e everyone but a few would have been nice ;)

Well, speaking of ice cream, I had some Schwan's Chocolate Malt Push-Ems® at home.  Today, we had a summer potluck at work and I forgot to bring something!  I rushed home and got the Chocolate Malt Push-Ems® and some Hippeas (Jane, the power pepper version!) and brought those for the potluck.  The Hippeas actually went fairly quickly, but there are still some Push-Ems® left.  I'm going to have one of those now since I didn't have one earlier. ;D

The malt push ems looking interesting for a bite or two.

We haven't tried those Hippeas.  Are they spicy?

They're pretty strong, too strong for my sister who got them and let me try them.  I like them. :)
