I had a nice swim today.  With all this hot weather I am sorry I haven't been able to go more often.

I'm up, I'm up - and was up for most of the night and morning with tummy problems - not really nauseous, though, just feeling a little queasy, enough to keep me up.  I'm not sure I got more than three or four hours of sleep.

TOD

I liked his music for Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Amour and Marguerite, even if the latter two had book/lyric problems.

Ditto!  And ditto. ;)

"We Have Always Lived in the Castle"  was a bit of a downer but at least it was short.

It’s on my short list.

What drugs was Ben Brantley dropping when he wrote that rave review of Moulin Rouge?

That movie was butt ugly and the stage version sounds worse despite a great cast.

"We Have Always Lived in the Castle, rehearsal trailer from the musical" - I saw this musical at Yale Rep quite a few years ago.  I liked the material a lot, but I think the Times was lukewarm, so it didn't transfer to NY.

Hurry up and read it.  The movie is coming out soon though that is not the reason I read it.

It looks interesting.  Maybe if the movie is a hit the musical will return.

Picked up a couple of packages, went to Gelson's and got stuff to make tuna sandwiches, came home, made them, ate them, and put out an ask for a gal performer and am waiting for a response, and am now listening to music - tonight I'll watch a motion picture.

Well, I must be off.  I'm going to the Legally Blonde production meeting.  Hopefully, I haven't forgotten something that they'll need to know...or I've not done something that I should've.  I'll find out soon enough!

Be back later!

I'd forgotten about the musical. Now I do remember, the Times was not nice.

Not every musical can be Moulin Rouge.

Right now, I'm watching something called Head. It stars The Monkees and features a script co-written by Jack Nicholson. Written and directed by Bob Rafelson. I'm surprised because it's pretty good. And a very young Terry Garr is funny in a short scene.

The new boss is beginning make her presence felt. And it's curious to see what's going to happen next. I think she's going to take my work wife and put her on a project. So, I might have to do her job and mine for awhile.

JohnG - I  recall that part of the excitement of the show's second act was one surprising (but still logical storywise) development, then another, then another.  I gathered from the Times review then that the reviewer was familiar with the book, so didn't feel the turns, really knew they were coming.

Here's the Times review.  He does seem quite familiar with the novel.   (but that's likely expected when a critic reviews a adaptation)

Hmmm, I think I might like to see this.  Chances are I did way back then.

I'm pleased with her. Don't get me wrong. But, well, I'm a Lutheran. And we don't like change.

Just got off the phone with my sister. Her husband had a TIA over the weekend. He's getting better. Still, it's scary.
