We ran into Mark, my jazz pianist neighbor. He told us there was a suicide yesterday in 212 West 82, one of the four buildings our landlord owns on this block. I'm sure i've seen the person on the street, but I know only a few tenants in the other three buildings.

I'll work here until noon, then head down to City Center to meet Rob Berman for lunch. He's back from his summer with a new musical DAVE at the Kennedy Center. I look forward to catching up.

I was going to go into the city this afternoon to see the new 3D restoration of Revenge of the Creature at Film Forum and say hi to a few folks from Home Theater Forum. But I've decided against it because I'm fighting what's either a summer cold or just a bad bout with allergies, and I ain't up to making the trip there and back.

However, I'm not so down and out that I won't pay a quick visit to the last of the big summer library book sales which just opened this morning at the Mark Twain Library in Redding. Due to the summer having been a write-off for me in so many ways, I didn't make it to ANY of the several I try to always go to, so I'll go to this one and see what there is to see.

Friday morning greetings! Rob and Mary Linda were up and outta here very early this morning for her to have outpatient surgery on her left foot for a bone spur. All went well and they're home now. She made it upstairs OK, which is what had me most worried.
