Thankfully the volunteers don’t have to clean up after the patrons at the theater where I usher. There’s a paid crew that does that.

The concession stands have had a change of policy with shows. No water bottles during the symphony. The crinkly sounds are too distracting.

As to the yelling and hollering and the mid-show standing ovations:  Musicals and comedies with all the laughing and clapping seem to be feeling like a key part of what's unique is making it a shared experience, an event which can’t be duplicated at home, not matter how great your system is.

Yelling and hollering is very different from laughing and clapping - laughing and clapping is fine.  Oversized American Idol bull pucky is not.

I agree. And the aroma of bull picky is not pleasant in closed environs.

Monday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I are preparing to leave tomorrow for a driving trip to Memphis, Vicksburg, and Natchez and a drive home along the Natchez Trace Parkway.  He has clergy meetings in Memphis Thursday and Friday, then we're vacationing the rest of the trip.  I've been to a noon book discussion at the library where my career began and this evening I'm going with some book friends to hear Emily St. John Mandel, author of Station Eleven.

I still want to drive the Natchez Trace Parkway sometime. I love roads like that.

I didn't realize it was something special.  Now I am intrigued.

I think I didn't say the line about the "bull picky."  :)

"Spelchek"  kept wanting to change "bull pucky" to "bull lucky."

It kept wanting to change "bull pucky" to "bull lucky."

I’m not going to touch that one.

I'll have to let you know.  I'm listening to Porgy & Bess right now.

Well, I need to leave now.  I have a Rocky Horror production meeting, then I'm going to see Frankenstein!

Be back later.

In keeping with the Keir Dullea stories of earlier, I'm watching The Fox, also starring Sandy Dennis. It's very D.H. Lawrence -- and not necessarily in a good way.

Back from dinner at my brother and sister-in-law’s house.  We had salad and pasta with homemade sauce.  We had a nice time.

Dance athleticism is halfway over. My body is both glad and sad about that. It's really good but it's very intense, and tonight was a mental overload on all of the things that have to move at the same time in order to take one step, much less, say two and three in a waltz. I'm exhausted.

Has anyone read The Fox? I can't tell if the two women are supposed to be lesbians or not.
