We have to be up at 6:15 in order to have breakfast before we go into Ha Long Bay.  Hopefully to see more than fog.

Checking it online, it looks like similar geography to Phang Nga Bay with "James Bond Island" which was used in The Man With the Golden Gun.

I forgot TWO things at WalMart this morning.  I will go back when I go to Goodwill looking for a chair tomorrow.

Re: the Golden Globes and the producer of GREEN BOOK refusing to leave the stage.

I thought that he was being very disrespectful. When they start playing the music you can speak for a few more seconds.  But he decided to speak for a few more minutes.

And just so you know....

What you need at the outset of the week is the skills of a mathematician. If you're not a mathematician, just work extra hard to be logical and reasonable when dealing with whatever comes your way. Emotional investment isn't paying off at this juncture. That said, be as warm as possible when communicating with others. Thursday and Friday, largely because you're giving off good vibes, a family event you've been dreading turns out to be a blast. On Saturday and Sunday, rely on your flexibility and organizational prowess to get everything done.

TOD:
I've hardly seen any Denzel Washington films, which is odd. His stuff just doesn't come up much on cable TV. The only movies of his I've ever seen are:
Philadelphia
The Pelican Brief
Cry Freedom
License to Kill

I thought he was very good in all of them.

Laundry is finished  but not put away and I've spoken to Joshie about tomorrow.  Next up, the market.

I've thought Denzel Washington was great in anything I've seen him in, but a lot of the films for some reason aren't among those that stick in my mind.

MALCOM X, yes, definitely, and I was thinking about that one recently. I'm ready to watch it again.

I did catch THE BONE COLLECTOR once on cable, and liked it, but I have now totally forgotten the "reveal". I remember seeing GLORY way back when, but have forgotten much of that, too. I managed to skip both the MANCHURIAN and PELHAM remakes, even though I'd intended to see each of them just for the pure hell of it.

Now, looking over his filmography, I am stunned, stunned, to see that he was Dr. Chandler in ST. ELSEWHERE. How did I never remember that?

They didn’t know what to do with him on St. Elsewhere. They sort of paired him off with Alfre Woodard, and that was great chemistry.

I believe the only film I've seen Denzel in is Mississippi Masala, which is quite wonderful.

I always wanted to see that one. I’ll have to see if the library has it.

I have wanted to revisit the series -- and I'm not up to date on this, but I don't think it's ever been made available on home video, officially or satisfactorily.

Is the producer of Green Book a moron?  Does this person not understand that behaving like that will bother people and perhaps affect Oscar votes?  What was so important?

Home from market, I'll put the groceries away, give Thatch and Annabelle a treat, and get back to the choral work.  I think I have about two more pages to write.

And I had to get out the Big Ladder and change the kitchen ceiling light fixture.  I hate being on a ladder approx. 10-12 feet off the floor, but it's done.  Thatch had some turkey, Annabelle won't eat.

Anyone have an opinion, yea or nay, regarding Seth Rudetsky's Disaster!?

I'll listen to it later. I've been asked to play in a two-week run up here in June. I've got nothing against 70s disaster flicks, but as I understand it, he cobbled together a jukebox musical, not a show score -- and that right there is enough to put me to sleep as I type this.

Maybe it's better than I'm thinking. Maybe it's worse. At least it's a time of year when I rarely have anything else going on, and it should take little effort.

It’s a jukebox score largely of cheesy 70s songs that I love. I listen to it more frequently than o care to admit.

In the opening, the general manager of the boat wants warm hors d’oeuvres, so he sings Hot Stuff. Yes, a real groaner.

Back from Xeroxing, delivering, and having a spot of food.  I cancelled the two o'clock meeting - too far, I'd hit traffic both ways, and I have too much to do.

I wrote a page of new stuff.  Had Taco Bell for lunch - just needed something quick and cheap.  But how should I feel about this: The young gal totaled my order then told me she gave me the senior discount.  a) no one else has ever offered me that at Taco Bell, and more importantly, b) Does that mean I look like a SENIOR???  Damn them, damn them all to hell.
