Miss Annie Rooney was a pretty funny movie - though no great shakes. The 1942 lingo of the teens was frantic....the best part was Roland Dupree as Shirley Temple's boyfriend Joey.  He played the drums and danced a great jitterbug with Peggy Moran.

Dickie Moore - who played Shirley's NEW boyfriend - wrote in his autobiography that he couldn't dance, so for the scene at his birthday party where he was supposed to jitterbug with Shirley, they put a Dickie Moore mask on Dupree and did the scene in long shots.  It was almost scary watching Shirley dance with this apparition....

Dupree had some kind of lisp or maybe it was because he grew up speaking French and English was his second language - but it was funny to hear him talk.

The Blake Edwards films are incredible in and of themselves, but Preston is a real treasure in those.

I've wanted to see The Dark at the Top of the Stairs for years, and it's just never available. I believe it's never been released to home video. Certainly not in DVD or BD, never checked earlier formats.

I've always wanted to see Dark at the Top of the Stairs. It's one of the few Inge plays I do not know.

And there is this:
You know the drill. The more crazy things get, the more flexible you have to become -- otherwise you'll snap. And no one wants that. Your seeming nonchalance pays off as soon as Tuesday. It's like you were born to juggle, you make it look so easy. Wednesday is a good time to start a new project and Thursday is right for making a big purchase with a partner. Friday, a bout of indecisiveness sets you back a bit, but over the weekend you'll take stock of your goals and by Sunday have a clearer plan.

T.O.D.

I never saw Mr. Preston in person, but I always enjoyed his screen work.

Top of the list would be DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS - I love that film, but I haven't seen it in years.  Shirley Knight is a wonder in that film.

VICTOR VICTORIA

I was lucky enough to see Preston once, in Mack and Mabel when it tried out here.  He was great.

I futzed and finessed and wrote two new pages, and am now printing out.  At around ten I'll go Xerox, then deliver pages, then figure out my food situation for the day, and then come back here and write more book and some liner notes.

TOD:

I’m liking the Preston stories and agree with the various choices, especially Toddy in Victor/Victoria. I would add the documentary Words and Music by Jerry Herman, with footage from Mack and Mabel, and Sam Peckinpah’s amiable Junior Bonner, in which he played Steve McQueen’s dad.

I missed my timeline for the vet today.  I knew we had 10-12, which I missed, so I called to confirm the next times began at 1:00.  Nope, it's 4-6. I do not want to schlep Thatch and carrier on a crowded bus, so we'll go tomorrow at 10.

Well, I need to go to bed now.  I need to go to work early because there's a problem with the report that I need to run when I pay the bills.  The problem is that for some reason, I can't access the report. :o The IT people know about it, but hopefully they'll have fixed it by the time I get to work...hopefully.

Have a good day, all!

I got to work at about 10:00 and the report still hasn't been fixed. :-\ I had to manually create the report, but I got it done.  Fortunately, it's the middle of the month where there aren't as many invoices to pay, so it didn't take that long.  I don't know when the IT people can fix it.  I'm done for now, but will need it again at the end of the month.

Bruce and all the young people did a phenomenal job tonight and the material was so much more sophisticated than what you would ever expect in a young person's cabaret.   For us, the magical part of Kritzerland shows is discovering little known gems of songs!

Great pictures of the cast!
Thank you George, it's fun capturing actors' and singers' expressiveness :)

Lechienfou, you took the pictures?  That's pretty cool! ;D

Love the score.

I understand the book was a problem.
