Last night I continued down the anthology path with DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, Amicus's first venture for which DR Jrand68's very own SUBOTSKY! penned the stories. My UK Blu-ray includes a worthy hour-long documentary on the history and the inspirations for these tales. I found a couple of the segments a bit overlong for the material, but hey. The framing story with Cushing and Lee and the other gentlemen on the train is amusing.
It's wonderful to finally have the original release intact, as opposed to the weird DVD one(s) with the German main titles and video-sourced end credits. Unfortunately, that's mitigated by the transfer's infamous heavy application of DNR, the wiping out of all evidence of film grain, so there's still that video "sheen" to the proceedings.
Tonight, back to my original favorite, ASYLUM, which I haven't seen in a decade or so. It should be most interesting to view, now that I'm much more familiar with the other Amicus offerings.
