Continuing yesterday's topic, when I was in France and visited Paulette's relatives,  they laughed at my French, because my pronunciation was almost perfect but my grammar was awful.

The big laugh came in Alsace when I ased if someone would pass the bread--in Alsatian!  Foreigners do not speak these local languages, of which there are half a dozen still spoken in France.

And if you want to know, it goes something like Noch a petsala broht ven s'pliapt  There's no standard way of spelling it .

Interesting historical fact:  Alsatian is related to low German and Hitler considered Alsatians German, though they thought of themselves as French.  When the Germans invaded,  Paulette's father was conscripted into the army,  and her first language was actually Alsatian.  Couldn't be heard speaking French until the war was over.

I don't know how you people deal with snow. I am so glad I live in Arizona.

Amen.

Jrand, today it would probably only be my scenes, but back then we always got the entire script - I still have most of them.

So here I am with a bit of French that I haven't kept up, some Spanish, a few phrases of German  and I can still decline Latin nouns, because I date back to the Jurassic age when it was offered in high school. Now priests don't even have to know it. They can choose between Latin, Greek, and Hebrew.

My Italian is only what I remember remember from opera, and I don't think "Son of Heaven, I wish to undergo the test!"  would serve me well shopping in Rome.

Tune in.  In the next episode we will discuss one  more language

Update.
Things are slowly getting better. Most tests are coming back negative. Some things still have problems. I’ve been able to go back to the gym. Started WW last month. It is really the best way to help you take the unnecessary weight off. As of today eating better and more exercise I have lost 22lbs.

That's wonderful!  Congrats!

Vixmom needs a plowing neighbor.

Yes she does.  We briefly had a snow blower neighbor the winter Keith was in Pennsylvania while the boys and I were in Massachusetts.   There was a lot of snow that year and the neighbor knew I was on my own.

When I left my place this morning, most of the roads within the complex had been plowed, so I had no trouble getting out!  Whew!  I'm now at work and only have four more hours until the building closes.

It must be big.  I didn't use the one in Ashland but did use the one for our little driveway in Massachusetts.  It was electric though and only went 2/3 down the driveway.
