Thatch continues to eat almost anything I serve, but he's now blacklisting chicken and liver.  He's also eating the food Annabelle refuses to touch, so he's a very happy kitty.

My horoscope says there's going to be a big move in my career today.  I'd settle for a little push, since this career seems to be dead or going nowhere fast.

TOD: I think the late Peter Howard was the last of the great Broadway dance arrangers, so nearl;y any show with his work is tops in my book, especially Hello Dolly!'s "Dancing" and "Waiter's Galop." These days the dance arrangers seem to write for the most part rinky-dink mickey-mouse crap.

Trude Rittman, beautiful lady and the greatest of the greats:
CAROUSEL: Louise Ballet and the Hornpipe for "Blow High, Blow Low," in which she makes music from fragments of that song and "You're A Queer One, Julie Jordan"
THE KING AND I: The Small House of Uncle Thomas, which is maybe 10% Rodgers and 90% Rittman
FINIAN'S RAINBOW: the polonaise beginning "When the Idle Poor Become the Idle Rich"
PAINT YOUR WAGON: "Lonely Men" and "Another Autumn"
CAMELOT: "The Lusty Month of May" and Morgan le Fay's Court
Trude was responsible for giving Frederick Loewe and Kurt Weill the layouts for BRIGADOON and ONE TOUCH OF VENUS and they both have great dance music
MY FAIR LADY: Trude's big number was the Act One "Decorating Eliza" ballet cut after the New Haven opening; I'd love to hear it

GENEVIEVE PITOT
LI'L ABNER: Sadie Hawkins Ballet
CAN-CAN: Quadrille, surprisingly, her big Garden of Eden ballet isn't very good
KISS ME, KATE: all of it, so good, especially the Tarantella and Pavane
I just heard her work on HIGH BUTTON SHOES and iot's great fun but the rumor isd the big Mack Sennett ballet is by Styne himself

JOHN MORRIS
WILDCAT, the excerpts on the cast recording are fantastic
BYE BYE BIRDIE, I am disappointed in the Big Shriners' Ballet and has anyone heard "100 Ways To Kill A Man"?
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: the dances are the best part of a mediocre score missing all of Jane Austen's wit

LEONARD BERNSTEIN: ON THE TOWN

Continuing with the TOD, I would like to "Like" the above post. :) DR Elmore has beat me to it in his usual grand style. I envy your knowledge, sir. But here's a short list:

LI'L ABNER:  Sadie Hawkins
THE MUSIC MAN:  Marian the Librarian
A CHORUS LINE:  Music and the Mirror
HELLO, DOLLY!:  Waiter's Galop (original, but the new version has also grown on me a bit)
WEST SIDE STORY:  All of it, impossible to choose.
ON THE TOWN:  Um, same.
THE KING AND I:  Small House of Uncle Thomas

The Shriners Ballet grew on me over a two-week run some years back, but I should probably revisit it.

I do love the Lerner & Loewe music.

And Kander & Ebb, in particular ZORBA and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN.

Monday to Wednesday is ideal for having fun but perhaps not so good for working hard. You should be feeling happy, optimistic, generous and very sociable. Problems could arise if you need to attend to more serious matters in which a responsible or conservative attitude is needed. Avoid a tendency to overspend on luxury items, fashion, cosmetic, holidays and entertainment, anything that you can actually do without if money is tight.

Thursday to Sunday increased intuition and flashes of insight lead to self-discovery and revelations. You can be comfortable expressing the more unique or quirky side of your personality. You will feel like trying sometime new, outside of your normal routine. This could range from new adventures to new inventions. An excellent time to leave your comfort zone and widen your social circle with some extra ordinary people.

Monday morning greetings!  We had a smooth trip to Lima yesterday and enjoyed Palm Sunday worship with the former parishioners.  Richard and I vegged the rest of the day.  Today I'm in the slow lane and Fr. Richard is helping with noon services at one of the Dayton churches.

Cats (yes, Cats!)
Hairspray
Jelly's Last Jam
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Singing in the Rain
Sweet Charity
Thoroughly Modern Millie (the musical)

DR George, I thought there was no good dance music in the musical disaster called Thoroughly Modern Millie. I've rarely detested a show so much.  I thought there was absolutely nothing good about the show at all.  Talk about making a fun but messy movie into one pathetically inept musical!

On a happy note, I walked outside to go to the corner bodega and ran smack into our former super Val!
