Good evening - the weekend is over - as is Spring Break.  Only 6 more weeks of school.  So, that's great.  But so much to do in that 6 weeks, it should make things go faster.

Trying to savor the last few hours before bed.

I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...  I tell you, I buckled down, Winsocki and I wrote two sets of liner notes AND the additional commentary.  That's taken the past five hours.  I did go to Gelson's and got some snacks for the evening.  Back to 1000 calories tomorrow.

I keep reading about adults possibly needing booster measles vaccinations if.....https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-measles-outbreak-raises-questions-immunity-adults-144506034--finance.html

I just went over my adult children's records & they look like they are fine even though they are in the age bracket for this.  I just wish Keith could remember if he has had measles.

I don't know if I ever had a measles vaccination. My mother could never remember. I supposedly had measles or mumps as an infant and a vaccine possibly for the other, but she couldn't remember the details.

About 28 or so years ago, I was covering a community college in upstate New York that had a measles outbreak. The campus was quarantined and long before SKype, they let me sit in on a meeting by phone because it wasn't known if I ever had measles or the vaccine.

You might ask your doctor about havi g your blood tested for these.  Do you know if you had chicken pox?

Good to hear Nick’s stuff is being cared for in this way.

I guess our best hope for the collectible things that mean a lot to us while we're around at least wind up with someone who wants it enough to pay something for it.  For the most part, I think I'd rather have something that was important to me burned in a furnace like "Rosebud" rather than end up in the collection of someone who never wanted it or gives it a thought.  So it sounds hopeful that a lot of Nick;s stuff will wind up with people who actually want the things, at least for a generation or two.

From an obit in today's San Antonio paper:

-- -- -- of San Antonio Texas, age 92, passed away peacefully April 23, 2019.
She left behind a hell of a lot of stuff to her daughters, who have no idea what to do with it.
Somehow, they will deal; that 35 year in the making garage sale hasn’t happened yet.
She was renowned for her know it all, lack of patience, quick dry wit, take no prisoners, tell it like it is. We love her deeply and will miss her as a true force of nature. Her heart was big, and she would do anything for her family whom she loved so much.

This is a great obituary.

And what was cool, they bring on stage a local school choir from the town where they're performing, and that group gets to sing a song.  The choir that sang tonight sang a song from Hamilton and they were pretty good.  The soloists sang ALL the lyrics and didn't make any mistakes!

That explains how they sold so many seats ;)

Well, that...and "Hamilton." ;D

By 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon, I felt so poor and my eyes so ached that I took two Tylenol, one Tylenol PM and went to bed.  It was a godawful night.  I got up at 6:30, fed the cats, and went back to bed.  Around 10. I got up, took a  very long, very hot bath, and went back to bed.  As soon as I clean the litter, I'm going back to bed.

I do believe we have crossed fitty and are perhaps closer to sixty, in terms of the orders the former helper never bothered to ship.  I have not sent him the e-mail I drafted a couple of weeks ago, when we'd crossed twenty.  I think it's time, don't you?  And frankly, I see no end in sight for this BS.

Yikes!

When I last posted, I was on my way to be a guest at a book club and I had a delightful time.  However, I got home to the news that one of AAUW friends had died earlier that afternoon.  She'd been bravely battling cancer and had attended our April meeting just 2 weeks before.  Didn't feel very chatty that evening.

Oh, no. :( My condolences.

Then on Wednesday I had to get myself in high gear to ready our house to host my regular book group on Thursday evening.  This was a pinch-hit on my part because the originally-scheduled hostess is dealing with a hospitalized husband.  It sounds like he's pretty sick.

The crane collapse in Seattle yesterday was a really terrible thing.  Four deaths is tragic.  However, our local TV stations have gone into overkill on the situation.

Yesterday afternoon, from around 3:30 pm all the news coverage was about the crane.  They even preempted the national news broadcasts to stay on the story.  But there was nothing else to cover.  All of the important information was covered in the first hour.  After that, it was just repeated over and over again.

Tonight, the 11:00 pm newscast was almost all about the crane, again.  I am surprised that they even managed to squeeze the weather and sports into the program.

My niece has an incureable condition called hyperacusis.  Larry, her mother's boyfriend, posted this article on FB about an app where people can measure the sound in restaurants and rate them for other people who either have the condition, or who just want to go out to some place that's actually quiet.  Here's the article about the app and the person who created it:

Restaurants are too freaking loud. This app helps you shame them.
