I am heartbroken.  Jo Sullivan Loesser has died. I dearly loved her.

I’m so sorry, DR Elmore...

I also collect books, cast recordings, Texas cookbooks and DVDs.

Cast recordings!  I collect those, too! :D

Here’s Jo Sullivan and Robert Weede at their finest. It doesn’t get much better than this, IMO.

Agreed!

So sorry to hear about Jo - only met her a couple of times, but she was very nice and was happy about the Liz Callaway Loesser CD and every time we'd do a Loesser song on an album, and she was also appreciative that we used daughter Emily on several albums.  Still, a nice and wonderful life she had.

I'm up, I'm up - noisy neighbors today and I think I'm going to have a talk with them, with Grant along for the ride.  They woke me up at ten doing some pointless work over there, I have no doubt.  And then there are the loud kids who are seemingly allowed to be outside at ten on a school night being loud.

Something I was just looking at or reading popped an image into my head which took me a moment to identify. It turned out to be my main dream which had been forgotten since I woke up. In it, I was walking through a theater where Barbara Bush was sorting through these job applications, when she called my name, told me “this looks excellent”, and started to explain what information I still needed to provide before the interview — something about “what is the estate worth” — when I realized it was only a dream and woke up.

Back to work - 29 more days of school - but are jammed packed with events, shows, etc.  They will move along quickly, I am very sure.

Very sad news about Jo Sullivan.  Also, I had read that Doris Roberts passed away, but I thought that was earlier - and I didn't check the date on the Facebook post.

John Singleton is being taken off life support. He’s only 51.  Sad.

Doris did die earlier.  According to her IMDb listing, she died three years ago on April 17, 2016.

Work days.  And since the weekend would be work days as well... that would require another calculation  LOL

Jo Loesser and I made two memorable trips together in 1997, the first was to Logan, Utah, in July to help the Utah Festival Opera with a wonderful production of Greenwillow.  I was in charge of all the musical revisions, and I had been in Utah from the week before July 4 through July 5, supervising things.  After the July 4 orchestra rehearsal, I flew back to Manhattan and Jo flew to Salt Lake City.  Two days later, she called me and said, I need you here tomorrow!  And around 5:30am, I boarded a flight back to Salt Lake City, where I spent two weeks on the production - she wanted me to rescore "Coulda Been A Ring," which I did - and palling around that part of Utah with Jo as a most entertaining chauffeur.

In November, I realized I had absolutely no work lined up to get me through the New Year, so I applied for a Christmas job at Barnes & Noble.  I dropped off the application around 6:00pm, and the next morning I got a call about an interview.  I went in, spoke to the first floor manager, and was hired.  When I got home, there was a phone call from Jo.  She needed to book my ticket for London.  I had been working on some of the cut material from The Most Happy Fella for a new recording, and Jo decided she needed me there as the editor.  My memories of that trip - besides the wonderful company, musicians, and dinners - was Christmas shopping and antique hunting with Jo in early December.  She was so much fun.

Pointless or not, 10:00am is a reasonable time to be doing outside work.   I feel for you because you go to bed late & wake up late while your neighbors are up earlier.
