I am home from the doctor and down to 200 lbs.  People keep telling me I've lost weight but I don't see it.

Congrats, Larry!

Any other Kathy Griffin fans out there?  Kathy Griffin Movie ‘A Hell of a Story’ Gets Theatrical Release!  I saw her "Laugh Your Head Off" tour in Seattle and it was fantastic (and kind of scary)!  I can't wait for this movie!

His health and my guilt over my financial straits.  I haven't been able to afford his atenelol for his heart since December, and he's going in for an echocardiogram tomorrow to check his heart.  I hope the results are good, but i'm scared shitless.

Understood. I was scared that he was in a crisis situation right now. Strong vibes to the both of you. I know what it’s like to endure a night and a morning in fear of something.

I'm worried for him because I love him and I'm afraid my financial situation may be killing him.  He's my responsibility and I fear I've failed him.

TOD:
Au Revoir les Enfants
Hope and Glory
Small Change
My Father’s Castle/My Mother’s Glory
Clueless
Heathers
The Red Balloon
The Breakfast Club
Hoop Dreams
The Devil’s Playground

Au Revoir les Enfants
Clueless
Heathers

I would add these!  I love Au Revoir Les Enfants, but it's too painful and heartbreaking to watch again.  I needed to be carried out of the theatre at the end.

Yup. I felt the same way. It took a lot to watch that. I can imagine all it took on Louis Malle’s part to be honest about his own role in the story. Devastating.

Yikes. I never saw it and I had no idea it was something like what I’m hearing. I will get to it, though, and now I’ll be prepared. Or as prepared as one can be.

It's a beautiful film, nostalgic in its early 1940s French boardingschool days, and then it kicks hard; the ending is absolutely devastating, giving the title an ironic and tragic twist.

Good morning, good day, how are you this wonderful day, which has yet to be wonderful?  I got seven hours of sleep - very noisy morning with dinging texts, noisy workers next door, and phone ringing.  I was up at eleven, answering e-mails, and listening to Diana Canova read a bit of GEE, which was fun.  I think it's going to come down to her and one other gal, who's much younger.  I may ask that younger gal to read some of the ninety year old GEE, just a page to see how she deals with it - Diana could do that without a problem, but her younger GEE and Peyton aren't quite right but she's so good I'm sure if we chat she'd just be fine.  But I have no idea if she'd do it on a royalty share of if she'd do it for the 50 an hour that's on the table should they not want royalty share.

I actually listened to several candidates for both books, then I had to go to the mail place only to find no important envelope had arrived - they tell me it was sent but not WHEN - it was due on Saturday, not today, not tomorrow, not a week from now.  So, when it's due on Saturday, it means they should mail it at the beginning of the week.  I suspect they mailed it on Thursday or Friday.  Pathetic.

I just spent 45 sweaty minutes moving furniture around to accommodate the air conditioner and realized I didn't need to. Oy!

Strangely, of all works, Legally Blonde years later was more realistic about student life at Harvard Law School than the Paper Chase film -  though it's possible that by 1980, Harvard Law was trying to get rid of that Kingsfield image.

Interesting.

Since I neither knowe nor care what Hulu is, I do hope their 6-part Catch-22 will be released on DVD.

I would like to see that.

So, I have a staff member who's been out on extended medical leave since late January, and today will be her first day back!  She's been cleared (so far) to work two hours a day for the next two weeks.  Then, they'll re-evaluate and hopefully she can work more hours, eventually coming back full time.

Wishing her well on her 1st day back.

Thanks, Jane!  She was here and was kind of in shock at her cleaned office ;) and will just be figuring out what's what again for the next few days.

I expect the clean office was the best gift she could receive on her first day back :)
