Is the slogan "Make Blintzes Great Again"  too political?  :)

Boy, this has me craving deli food, and it’s just another sad reminder of our lack of a real deli in this town. I say “real” because there might be a fake (imitation or chain) one somewhere around here, and I’m afraid that doesn’t count.

I could probably find happiness without going all the way into the city, by going to one of the really great diners where decent deli foodstuffs are found among the other thousands of wonderful offerings. However... my local diners, as good as they are, aren’t places I’d go for deli. And once I got to the closer-to-town diners that do enjoy that level of sophistication, I’d be in an area that also has delis. So there you go.

As it happens, FJL, my first ever deli food was cheese blintzes. For what it’s worth, I always ordered the blueberry, and I remember it was in precisely those same years that I had “discovered” and become enamored of blueberries in preserves and such.

Sorry, this subject never fails to get me going, so I will stand aside and let someone else have the floor.

What a great collection of photos. Please keep them coming. I was especially interested in the Stop the World / Roar of the Greasepaint ones — but that’s not to choose favorites, they’re all fascinating.

Yes, they were. To quote some ragamuffin, Please, sir, I’d like some more.

Mort’s Vienna Deli in Chicago was always worth a visit. I’d like to go there now.

Distracted right now. Dad is having surgery and I won’t get an update for quite a while.

We have a rainy day, which could be a problem getting to and from City Center.  Since becoming a gimp, I cannot accommodate a cane, umbrella, and bag, so it means I will be wet - hopefully not soaking wet - most of the day.

Larry, maybe you need to get yourself one of these kinds of umbrella hats:

I'm home from an day was was more unpleasant than pleasant.  Everyone seemed irritated and stressed by Thursday's deadline.  Then I got home to an irritating series of emails about that check I've been expecting for over a week.

And now for more depressing news:  I have to see what dogs were not rescued by noon and facing euthanasia before 6:00.

I hope DR VIXMOM and VIXDAD are surviving the day.....and it would be nice if they were getting a bit of help from the future in-laws....

I think those umbrella hats are the height of punctuality!

It is 82 degrees.....

I styled my hair for the play - on my wig head - and Birdy Barnum is not amused by the whole thing.

I shall think about posting a photo later....after rehearsal.

I have decided I don't want to do anything else that is not my job on this production.....but I probably won't stick to that resolution....

Tuesday afternoon greetings!  So, we headed out the back door of our hotel about 7:45 this morning for a 9am library orientation at DAR and I tripped on the uneven sidewalk.  An ambulance ride and ER visit later, we were back here to nurse the 7 stitches under my right eyebrow.  There are photos on Facebook...

Didn't Lily Tomlin do this umbrella hat back in the late 1980s in her show?

Back from a patty melt and side Caesar salad, picking up a package, and straightening out stuff at the bank - I got about four conflicting things from them this morning, so it's all worked out and fine now - more than fine.
