Then I felt guilty about the pie, so I did a walk - a brisk four mile-plus walk.  By mile three I thought I was going to pass out.  From Woodman to Laurel Canyon and back, plus back and forth from Ventura Blvd. to my house.  My feet are killing me.  Perhaps someday I'll return the favor and kill my feet.

What shoes did you wear?  I wear good running shoes when I walk which makes the pain tolerable.

I wore my running shoes.

My grandmother (mother's mother) died fairly young from cancer.
All 3 of her daughters had cancer with only one, not my mother, surviving it.
Each of them had a daughter who died of cancer.
I know I am very lucky to still be cancer free.

Jane, did you ever try ChocZero, the sugar-free chocolate bars that DR George first mentioned  here on HHW? I quite like them. They're not as sweet as some chocolate, but I like that; some chocolate is too sweet for me. I find that when I eat less sugar I also want less.

I never saw it for sale and didn't want to order it on line.  I have been buying the Ghiradeli 60% cacao chips.  With the darker chips I am able to control myself and be satisfied eating less candy.  Baby steps while I reduce my sugar, unless my glucose levels go up instead of down.

Jane, why don't you want to order it online?  I've never heard of it being in stores...not that it couldn't be.  I've just never seen it anywhere.

Try a pair of Dr. Scholl's double air cushion inserts under the insoles.

Well, this sucks.  I wanted to record Mike Birbiglia's segment on The Tonight Show from Wednesday night from my DVR onto my new DVD burner, but I got this message:

WTF??  I can't even record NBC when it's broadcasting live.  I could record EVERY OTHER channel that I tested, even HBO and Showtime.  I wonder if there's some setting in the DVD burner that's preventing it, or some signal imbedded into the actual broadcast coming from NBC that the DVD burner is recognizing.

DR TCB when you order groceries delivered do they automatically substitute a product if they are out of it?  I had read that happens & you are required to accept it.

I have only ordered from Safeway, so I can’t guarantee all the stores; but at Safeway when you finish ordering, they bring up a page showing all of your items, and after each item they ask you pick whether you want (a) the same brand but a different size, (b) the same size but a different brand, or (c) no substitutions.  I think there is another choice but I don’t remember what it is.

2019 SOSSE Best Supporting Actor Nominees:

Tom Birkeland as Edward P. Mitchell in "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Played exquisitely by Tom Birkeland, the role is the anchor piece for what happens on stage. Mr. Birkeland has never been better than he is in this outing.
Howy Howard as Les in "Newsies, The Broadway Musical," for Tacoma Musical Playhouse.
What we said. "Ten-year-old Howy Howard played the daylights out of the role of “Les!” He nails his lines, sings the songs accurately and on key.
W. Scott Pinkston as Roy Cohn in "Angels in America" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Mr. Pinkston is, quite simply, a great actor! There is a lot of meat on the bone in the character of Roy Cohn, and Scott Pinkston filets it for the audience to see."
Kyle Sinclair as Franz Liebkind in "The Producers" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Kyle Sinclair makes us laugh just by showing up...we offer wild kudos to him for his role as Franz Liebkind... Mr. Sinclair took the play from funny to over-the-top."
Ton L. Williams as Belize/Angel of Oceana in "Angels in America" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "This may be his finest hour. As Belize, Mr. Williams is flamboyant without being a caricature. As Roy Cohn’s nurse, he is multi-dimensional.
Congratulations to all the nominees!

Fantastic, DR TCB!

Thank you all for the congratulations.  When I got home from dinner Wednesday night, I saw that I had been nominated.  I went to Facebook, so I could cut and paste it here.  But when I went to Facebook, I found that my friend and fellow actor, Mark, had died.

Mark had cancer and we all pretty much knew he wasn’t going to make it, but this was a total shock.  He died from a reaction to the chemo he was taking.  It is thought that it was probably his heart.

Woo hoo and congratulations!!

It is enough just to me nominated.  And in this case, that is about as much as I can expect.  I am up against two fine actors in ANGELS IN AMERICA.  Not much hope for YES VIRGINIA.
