The composer said he was okay with that. I wrote the music for a song I'd asked for, when the lyric was sent to me. I wrote it in ten minutes. They all loved it. Then suddenly our composer started sending song after song, probably so I wouldn't have a chance to get any others. The problem was, and it was the problem we've been fighting since day one - they all sounded the same and they were not right musically for these characters and this show - I'd had very long work sessions with he and the lyricist, he'd do the changes I asked for right on the spot, record them, and then we'd never hear them again. It was very frustrating. Everyone saw what he was trying to do, but still we waited before I did anything else. He sent lead sheets on stuff we hadn't heard yet - and a pianist came here two weeks ago and played through and it truly was hopeless. The composer had also moved out of LA so all this was long distance, and the writer who'd told him I would be doing some of the music, finally put an end to it. This is not something I wanted to really do, but I at least "get" the world of the show and its characters.
