Last night's show was both great and hellish.
We had a substitute drummer which was scaring the bejesus out of me throughout the the evening. I know him and he's basically good and plays lots of shows, but he'd only ever played Cabaret once some years ago, and that, too, was as a sub. I was only able to meet with him an hour before, and we went over every cue. He did pretty well for the most part, but it turned out that he didn't have a grip on what the style of the drum solos should be. He'll be back once more, next Saturday, and the regular drummer (who's wonderful) is going to have to help on that.
Other weird things happened, including a keyboard amp volume level mishap that happened just before the start of the song "Cabaret" when I found I had about half my volume. Couldn't do a damned thing about it till after the song when I found the problem and fixed it. The band carried on and the song completed successfully, don't ask me how.
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Time for a week off.
