Well, you've read the notes, the notes were easy and listened, and now it is time for you to post until the easy cows come home.

Smoke on your pipe and put that in.

First after BK.

(though I admit I haven't read the notes yet.  Time to do that.)

Bk wrote in the notes:  "makes the show look more successful than it probably is, but, for me, it’s specious."

I think I may have said this last night, or at least thought it - They know it's specious, but it sounds intentional because those long lines of people standing to buy tickets were gone due to phone sales and computer sales.    But they loved those, too, since they got the per-ticket service charge for Telecharge, and that wasn't subject to royalties (even though to the buyer, you can call it whatever you want, it's part of what we paid.).

And they now with no shame float the fiction that it was caused by the added security of 9-11-2001  but  the lines were there before that

Oy vey, just noticing that "The Full Monty" where I first saw those (pointless) lines was at a Jujamcyn Theater, the O'Neill.

But that trick sounds more like Rocco than Jack, just like that specious "theater restoration fee" which they also had tried to keep out of the artist royalty pool for quite a while, was a Jujamcyn invention.

I just laughed myself wide awake when Trump (on TV) said about Adam Schiff "you know, they call him Shifty Schiff" - but I;m pretty sure nobody has ever called him that except for Trump himself.

Of course!  He makes up ALL the nicknames that he says people are called. ::)

Just like when he said to a group of Native Americans getting a medal "we have a candidate, they call her Pocahantas" -  nobody but him ever called her that!

But yikes, on the Democrat side - how did I miss Joe Biden talking to Anderson Cooper about bathhouses and round-the-clock sex?

And double yikes. - did Kamala Harris actually say she used to smoke in school and listen to Tupac - and someone looked it up and Tupac didn't record for the first time until years after she was in school?

When did writers of musicals have to look like they sound more time at the gym than writing?  Adam Gwon ten years ago was a delightful charming regulaly nice  looking guy who could sell a funny quirky song.

But in this weekend's Times:  (it recalls how Marlboro Man great  John Weidman always looked in press when he was doing Pacific Overtures, as if audiences should care what the writer looks like when they buy seats)

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/08/theater/adam-gwon-scotland-pa.html

And then the article has the director and head of the Roundabout saying things that seem atrneg for a piece on the writer.

They seem to be selling his being accessible, rather than him being really good, which he's known for, isn't he?

After I fed then, the cats graciously let me go bed for another 90 minutes.

I must spend some time this morning housecleaning.  The place needs a good vacuum, and I really should launder the bedding and winterize my bed.  We'll see how far that gets.

I haven't said much about that Babes In Toyland edition I worked on with my colleagues between 2002 and 2007, but there's been inquiry on getting back to it in the past six weeks, so I need to start collecting from various external hard drives whatever I can find.  Unfortunately, there's been no talk about finances, and I don't know if this is one more phishing incident similar to those between 2013 and 2017 about it, but I need a job.

Now that the overture is ready to begin, I need to dig out score paper and prepare that as well.

Speaking of Babes In Toyland, it opened today on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre at Columbus Circle in 1903.

It’s been a relatively lazy day so far. We drove to the other coast. I have to say we covered most of the island on this trip.
