Picked up some packages and an important envelope, did some banking, and have been diligently working at the piano.  And last night, I got inspired and wrote an entire set of liner notes.

I received what sounded like a telemarketing call at 8:30 this morning. A woman with a Filipino accent said she was calling from Medicare. Medicare doesn't call people--they send letters. But I am not one who appreciates early morning phone calls unless it's something important from someone I know. I expressed my displeasure and hung up. Afterwards I wondered if it had to do with the Social Security scam going around. My hairdresser, Richard, told me he's been getting a lot of calls from someone purporting to be from Social Security and asking him to confirm his SSN. How can people be so heartless as to do this?

I went to acupuncture today, then stopped for my new comfort food, enchiladas.

Yesterday and today were both glorious, weatherwise. Such an irony with fires all over. The air was clear and I had excellent visibility of the Santa Monica Mountains, but no sign at all of the Getty fire. Fortunately, the firefighters are making great progress.

Bruce, are you still writing songs for the musical you're mentoring/revising/whatever?

I cannot believe the weather we've had over the past 2 days. Last night and yesterday afternoon we had torrential downpours and an enormous amount of rain (cancelling Halloween in some places). And then today we have the strongest winds I've ever seen. Power outages, branches down everywhere. :(

Sorry.  We are actually having a very nice day.

I am trying to get the cats ready for the time change by sleeping later in the morning, but I'm having little success.  They already start letting me know it's breakfast time around 5:45, and it will be worse when the new time is 4:45!

I wonder if there's some sort of pet food dispenser with a timer on it. You set it for 6 am and VIOLA!

I expect there is.

Social Security sent me fifty cents LESS this month - it's a long story - but that's better than the $271 less they thought they should send me.....

As a trained finance pro, I can confirm losing 50 cents is better than losing $271.

So strange.  I got to the airport an hour before the flight which is always (before today) more than enough time, but they told me there was no way I'd make my flight.

They explain the reason for the unexpected lines, tried unsuccessfully to get me in a later fight - so it's  tomorrow instead.

TCB, the THEN hotel was very nice about changing things.

From my exoerience when hotels are accommodating,  that usually means they are not popular so actually need ti be nice to people.

Well, it's time for me to leave work.  Before we all left today, we had to get everything off the floors because all the carpeted areas will be cleaned tomorrow.  So, all boxes, things, and even floor mats have to be removed.  I'm now done now, so I can go home and watch 42nd Street on PBS!

Be back later.

The New Yorkers brought a lot of us together and certainly gave me the chance to meet many of you face to face. Important in a wholly different category from feeding my Cole Porter addiction.
