We always had Peter Pan Peanut Butter when we were growing up.

Then as I got older I switched to Jif.  I used Skippy for awhile when Miss Annette Funicello advertised it.....but now I use Jif....crunchy.

I like a peanut butter sandwich on white bread with strawberry jam....or sometimes a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

I like Skippy, preferably chunky.  No Peter Pan or Jif for me.

I have used, and should really return to the natural unsweetened peanut butter.  I can't stir them anymore and I haven't found one I like the taste of.

If I had rye bread in the freezer I would make peanut butter sandwiches with apricot jam.

Mostly I have peanut butter on celery or use a knife to get a bite out of the jar and have one bite.

I don't remember what brands I grew up with. We probably had all the typical name brands in the house. Years after being away from home I tried the natural ones and mostly was not enchanted by them. More recently, though, I found I like the Smuckers brand of natural, and that has been my go-to ever since. I'd been looking for the lowest carb and sugar hit, and that came in with nice numbers. It was shocking how much sugary crap is added to so many peanut butters. Anyway, nowadays I find the taste of the regular brands really "off".

When I get a new jar, I take the time to thoroughly stir it, then into the fridge it goes and that's where it lives. It then stays constituted the way I like it, and I only need to take it out for a few minutes to soften it just enough to spread decently. It also lasts forever refrigerated.

I like it with most kinds of jams, preserves, marmalades, you name it. I grew up eating it with grape jelly and I'll still eat that if it's all that's in the house, but I far prefer the better stuff. I also like it with bananas but haven't done that in years. And yes, conventional white bread is still a favorite for peanut butter.

Bruce I was trying to remember what you had said about Jojo Rabbit and couldn't find it by searching.  It must be in the notes and if there is a way to search those I am not aware of it.

Jane, at the bottom of the page of BK's notes is a search box: Search BK's Notes Archive:  Just put your search terms in there and it'll search BK's notes, not the board's posts.  I searched "Jojo Rabbit" and found this on December 18, 2019:

Quote
Yesterday, I chose a DGA screener entitled Jojo Rabbit – I had no idea what it was – in fact, I thought it was probably some stupid animated thing.  Well, it’s anything but that.  What it is is kind of a very clever satire that takes place in Nazi Germany.  It’s fairly audacious – the filming style is kind of that quirky thing that quirky filmmakers like to do – you’ll recognize it right away – but it’s a remarkable film in that it somehow manages the almost impossible feat of negotiating all its tonal shifts.  One minute, you’re laughing out loud at the outrageousness of it, and the next you’re getting surprisingly emotional.  I watched the first forty-five minutes or so, but then had to be on my way to the theater for some callbacks and new auditions.  I was hoping that wouldn’t take too long, but we didn’t finish until around 8:45.

Oh, is anyone else having a problem when doing a search?  As of yesterday it is only showing comments from the same day.

I just did a couple of searches and I got results from previous times...years, even!

I proofread the recording ending of the Entr'Acte and the Bows, wished Joshie a good time in DC, and casme home.  I'm ready for a nap.

I rarely have peanut butter now but I don’t care if it’s Skippy, Jif or Peter Pan.

There’s the name I couldn’t think of. I knew there had to be at least three top recognizable brands.

I don't remember what brands my parents bought when I was growing up, but at some point, I discovered Adams, then called "Old Fashioned," now "100% Natural."

I didn't realize that they're from Tacoma!  I just found this article on Adams' website:

Quote
About Adams® Natural Peanut Butter
The Adams® Peanut Butter Company was founded in 1916 by Rex F. Adams, a local Tacoma, Washington football coach. In 1919, the Company added Old Fashioned Peanut Butter to its line of products. Its peanut butter slogan was "The freshest thing in town." Tacoma customers recall being able to purchase the delicacy of Adams® Hot Peanut Butter. The freshly packed hot peanut butter was rushed to the local grocery stores on the very day of special ads.

In 1965, Cecil and Inga Nielsen purchased the company, and it operated under the name Adams Food, Inc. The company began to prosper after eliminating unprofitable items and upgrading the processing machinery. In January 1974, production of Adams products moved to a new plant in the Port of Tacoma area.

In December 1998, The J.M. Smucker Company acquired the Adams Peanut Butter business from Agrilink Foods, Inc.

Folks, shouldn’t we also be debating:  SMOOTH OR CHUNKY?

I’m fine with both.

I love the taste of just peanuts and salt.  Right now, I do have some Skippy "No-Stir" all-natural peanut butter extra crunchy (I had a coupon) but you still have to stir it a bit.  Otherwise, I usually just eat it right out of the jar.  Or I'll put it on chocolate bars or something else that goes well with peanut butter.  The current jar that I have is only about a third full, so when that has all been consumed by me, I'll get some more Adams. :D

I prefer chunky, but when I got this current jar of Skippy, I got both a jar of the smooth and one of the extra crunchy, and the crunchy is what's left.

Thanks to MR BK for answering my question yesterday.....

Perhaps the new book is about directing a play and otherwise working in the theatah.....

DR FJL I think APPLAUSE would be much improved if it were written with Addison as a character and had better songs.....

Yes on the eye. Annie LaMott has a great bit in one of her books on how kids know when Dad made their lunch, because he use apricot jelly and how weird kids found that.
