He closed out Western Stars with Rhinestone Cowboy, which fit the set perfectly, because the album is filled with his version of that kind of '70s music, his take on a Jimmy Webb song. But the life in Rhinestone is exactly what seems to be missing from too much of the rest of the film. He has the write idea in the lyrics thematically, and many of the songs have great hooks and melodies, but they aren't Springsteen, so they come off as being pale imitations and not the real deal.
