Oh....

And my apologies to DR JRand...

On the way in to the theatre tonight, one of the stagehands asked me...

"So, how do you like India-No-Place" so far?"

Oh dear!  Oh me!  When I got home from work tonight, I sprawled out on the bed to watch the Mariners play.  After the first inning, we were ahead 4 to 0 against Minnesota.  At that point I promptly fell asleep, and when I woke up, not only were the Mariners down 7 to 4, but I had slept through all but the last five minutes of American Idol.  I only managed to catch the final thirty or forty second review of the nine finalists with their phone numbers.  Strange, how little you can grasp from a less than ten second sound bite.

Carrie sounded fine
Constantine looked fine
I enjoyed Anthony
I couldn't tell what the Hell Bo was even singing
As for the rest.........

Scott looked like he had been squeezed into Orson Welles old suit.
Nadia appeared to be wearing a dress made out of toilet paper.
The others failed to even register.

Sorry about your friend Rodzinski.  Strange how those horrible little life lessons stick with us, even though they are probably quickly forgotten by the other person involved.

MattH -- Paula was not as sloppy squishy mushy on the Tongiht Show as she has been the last few weeks on Idol.  However, she was acting rather strange, and she seemed to be having a hard time getting her mouth around her words.  It was either like watching a bad ventriliquist or watching Rosalind Russell not lip-synching in GYPSY.  It was very strange to watch.

Jose -- Glad the show is going well.  For a chance to meet you, it would almost be worth it to sit through MAMMA MIA.

JRand, I don't know what TAR is.  As far as I know, Ellison doesn't watch any reality TV.  He's never discussed any with me.

I'm happy to say that I also don't watch any reality TV and, aside from the few I've worked on, never have.

LOL....neither MR BK nor MR HARLAN ELLISON is missing much.

TAR = The Amazing Race, DR CP!  HE's television criticism has always been so spot on - curiosity got the better of me.  I can understand why the subject has never come up.  LOL

I watch very little television at all.  First off, the frequent interruptions of rampant commercials make watching almost anything unbearable anymore.  If you watch three hours of TV a night, you've spent at least a third of that time, watching commercials.  What a waste!  Secondly, I just can't see watching 3-4-6 hours of TV a day every day.  Another waste.  Particularly mediocre reality programming, which is rarely real.  We are passively amusing ourselves to death.

Clifton Fadiman is hosting THE NAME'S THE SAME right now, it is a better showcase for him than the ill-used Bob and Ray.

Amusing Ourselves To Death is a book title by...well...I can't find the book in my vast library of tomes, so I can't tell you who the author is.

P.S. - I know know what The American Race is either.
