I saw Kaye Ballard at Jason Graae's concert. Kerry recognized her and said hello to her.
She loved Jason. I first worked with her in 1985 for a Jerome Kern Centennial concert at Town Hall. I orchestrated "Long Ago and Far Away" for her. When I went to her apartment, I met her then girlfriend, and Arthur Siegel, whom I knew through Ben Bagley, was there. It was a wonderful visit, and Arthur for years later, whenever I saw him, always raved about "Long Ago and Far Away." The last time I saw Kaye, after a rehearsal with the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, I walked her and actress Myfanwy Jenn, who was on Broadway in
Oh, What A Lovely War! and Richard Rodgers'
I Remember Mama, their apartment off Sheridan Square. Kaye was planning on moving permanently to Palm Springs, I think.
