My library opened this week for pick up. They announced on Monday that they would be opening that same day.   The only part that I am not happy about is that there is a limit on reservations. And because they pre-ordered books that i suggested I am unable to do anything online myself. I have to call and have someone else do what I want. :(

I hope you can get through to speak to someone and then pick up your books.

I feel antsy. I guess it's because I've been sitting for too much today.

So, my friend pug wrote a play that's going to be streaming on Facebook AND YouTube!  It's going to start in a few minutes, but if anyone wants to watch it's available on YouTube here:

I'm sure that it'll be left up after the streaming.

Anyway, they're going to do the whole thing again tomorrow, and I think they're going to do it live again, not just a rebroadcast of today's performance...I think.

Whoops!  Last evening I decided to take a snooze, and I ended up sleeping the night away.

I thought I wasn’t going to get back to Wozzeck in time, but I did, just on the iPad. I also didn’t get the score out, but I’ve got other chances to have a go at that. I was more interested in seeing the production, and I thought it was mostly good. Even on the small screen, it was a shocker when the set was revealed for the bows — because as with Lulu a few seasons ago, it’s atmospheric lighting and projections that ruled the day.

I do have something of a handicap when it comes to this piece. I grew up on the Mack Harrell / Eileen Farrell / Mitropoulos live performance recording which is lightning in a bottle, so the sound and “feel” of that is my benchmark whenever I’m watching or listening to a performance. But I did enjoy this. It just needs to be seen and heard on a larger system than an iPad.

My acupuncturist was asked to be interviewed for a documentary on fixing healthcare. After my treatment today she and I spent some time brainstorming. She had already written a few paragraphs, which weren't bad, but I felt they had little impact. I told her what I would say, more for a presentation than an interview, and she liked it.

I'd no sooner arrived home when I was asked to join a Zoom session with the film's director and her, but I couldn't get the Zoom audio to work. I feel like the last person on earth to try Zoom, but frankly felt no need for it. I let them know I'm available by (old-fashioned) phone if they need me. The book is about to be published, so they're not really looking for new ideas, just doing this acupuncture section, I think, for the film.

George, how is pug doing? I've thought about her several times lately.

Vibes for her recovery!

Great, insurance won't cover it and without insurance the drops are over $2,000.  They sent the info back to my eye doctor.

Do they send over a cardiologist for the heart attack you'll have when you see the bill?

Vibes you find a reasonable solution to the problem.

Speaking of eye doctors, I received a text from the ophthalmologist today, cancelling my August appointment. I've been trying to see this doctor for a consultaion for over a year now. He had a 3-month waiting list, plus there was a lengthy fumble over the referral, schedule conflicts, and then Covid. I tried to call to reschedule, but the lines were busy and the voicemail box was full. God only knows when I'll be able to see him. I've been using Natural Ophthalmics products in the meantime. They have really helped! I've been very pleased to have found them. But a little surgery would mean that I don't have to take them forever. At least in theory. I had no idea that the cataract surgery would necessitate a second one.

I've noticed a lot of people feeling the stress of Covid and lockdown. I think a lot of people thought that lockdown would just be for a month or two, then businesses would reopen and we'd be back to normal. Many here did reopen, then had to close again. Definitely Covid fatigue.

Zizi Jeanmarie died at 96. Didn’t know she was still alive. The Girl in the Pink Tights was her big stage show.
